Durrat al Arous is a big resort or a town in itself 45-minute drive north to central Jeddah. because it's outside the city, women can drive, and walk freely without scarves or abaya, swim in some designated beaches with men, and most important there are usually musical events going on
almost every other week, there is a saudi DJ or a band performing live music, especially over Eid holidays and other occasions. They usually set up their group (or stage informally) in the Marsa area - the harbour. lots of people gather, both men and women. these events are usually organised by a bunch friends -young people- who end up inviting the whole jeddah to a night out to al Durra. sometimes charges/entrance fee applies, it depends on the group organiser.
i haven't been to one myself where young people were performing but have passed by some street or amateur actors performing over a summer holiday, when my family was spending their holiday there.
if you want to know more, either go to Durra on wednesdays or thursdays, or try and find contact organisers
