You can't miss vertigo's spectacular chicken steak! It's so delicious, that once you have ONE tenny bite, you'll want to have 10 more orders!
Favorite Dish: ISN'T IT OBVIOUS,MY FAVORITE DISH IS CHICKEN STEAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this place has been people's favourite for so many years and i have never been there! since i have been in jeddah for four months now, i called my colleagues from college for a chill-out reunion and get some psychology out of our minds;^) it was a nice choice, relaxed atmosphere with nice, though low, music.
it is a two-floor restaurant, has a variety of food dishes, serves shisha and hot drinks. i think i like the couches, contemporary looking, though the tables are a bit small if you are planning to have a big group dinner. the walls are decorated by real instruments both arabian and western; oud, saxophone, guitar...which is kinda exciting to see both combinations, well this is what my friend got my attention to,lol.
Favorite Dish: i had chicken mushroom crepe as the main dish, and brownie with icecream. i like crepe in general but i think i enjoyed the dessert much more.
Heart warming music and tummy filling food ... two ingredients that primarily makes eating anywhere fun. And Vertigo has excessive amounts of both!
A close friend Bilal, a colleague at work, Kapil and me tried getting into the Java Lounge (the trendy bar-like-restaurant opposite to Vertigo) for Friday dinner, only to be told appologetically that the place is open to single males for breakfast and lunch; never in the evening. Oh well, Vertigo did not dissapoint us at all! Vertigo does have a single and family section too, and I'm told you could easily ask a group of mixed crowd / women if they'd mind you going in with them so that you gain entry, but then we didn't really wait to see if that trick worked ;)
Almost instantly, the moment you step into the joint, you are hit by a feeling that the place is not geometrically defined. And that the designers' have definately not made any attempt at hiding this being some sort of a musical lounge. Almost everything seems to be wavy, including the couches and motifs along the wall. Even the musical instruments hung along the wall seem to follow a seawave like pattern. Not to forget the strong bright colors in almost everything you set your eyes on.
There's a rack of CD's for sale along the entire length of the right wall which you can probe at your leisure. The music ranges between chillout, retro and arabian beats - enduring and enticing. Some psychedelic lighting to spice up the decor, and polite service. With a mix of locals smoking their shisha's and some expats enjoying a meal with a smoke, relax into a couch and soak into an ambience as what the doctor ordered! (Umm maybe not the health doctor)

Vertigo is a cafe with a music shop inside. As usual, there is are family and male sections. The decor is really original, bold colours with assymetrical sofas, plastic bubble swinging chairs, even the toilet seats are clear resin with daisies etc set in the seats.
You can listen to music via headphones at some of the tables.
The menus are written on records, and handed out in classic record covers, e,g, tom jones, olivia newton-john, anne murray.
The muttawa tried to close Vertigo down when it opened, due to the colour scheme and musical theme, but the Jeddah governor said 'this is what the people want' - go the governor!! Unfortunately this is why cameras are forbidden :-((
The sheisha pipes are really groovy, and the waiters are attentive to renewing the coals.
Favorite Dish: The food is probably the best I've tasted in Saudi - its fresh, well-presented in colour ceramic bowls and is yummy!!!
I recommend the gourmet vegetarian sammie - heaps of avocado, tomato, lettuce and chargrilled courgette with garlic mayo on fresh wholegrain bread. Its served with a green salad (ask them to go 'shwaya' on the dressing and yummy garlic hot chips)
Also, the chocolate brownie with ice cream is really good - crisp shell with gooey chocolatey centre - yum!
And the fruit cocktails - my favourite is called mars attack, it is apple, mint and lime.
This cafe has opened recently,,it has two levels, the lower levels is a non-smoking-shisha section(only for dining, but you can smoke a cigarette).
The upper level serves shisha(water pipe)as well as foods and drinks.
The tables set next to the windows allows you to listen to music on a headset device, you get to choose the music from the CD collection they have, also the CDs are for sale.
To me it`s a very unique cafe, designed in the 70s style.
The place usually packed,,but i found just this empty table to picture it....
Favorite Dish: They offer a very delicious French fries.(with garlic and parsely).
I also found the BBQ chicken sandwich very good.(cajun Chicken too).
This restaurant also has two sections one for (single males) and one for (families&single females).
The male section also offers an out door seating.
Best of all when we celebrated my friend`s birthday the waiters sang for her a happybirthday song while playing on a guitar.
(yeah This is something unique here in Jeddah).
