this spring is mentioned in the book of "Mawso'at Tarikh Madienat Jeddah" Encyclopedia of the history of Jeddah City by Abdul-Quddos AL-Ansari. This spring was constructed in the year 910-915 H approximately 500 years ago. It was located in the middle of Jeddah between AL-Yamen and AL-Mathloum district. Water flowed into this spring from Kaws Valley. It was eight meters deep and its total area reached 13.8 square meter with a flight of stairs for descending to the bottom. Waters of this spring dried out in the year 1304 H.

the administration of historical areas protection

The administration of Historical Area Protection has carried out research work and asked the old people of Jeddah about the location of the spring. Late Sheik Muhammed AL-Royyes was able to identify its position and described some of its parts. Other old people described its features before it completely disappeared. The matter was put up before the Governor of Makkah Region who approved to start the digging and searching work in the location, in coordination with all concerned authorities, the digging started in 1416 H under the supervision of Eng. Sami Nawar the director of historical area. The digging was carried out skillfully. Old items and coins were found. There were also seven vaults with seven reservoirs. Still there is a part of this spring buried under some shops. There are suggestions for building shelters to protect the site in addition to a glass hedge, then opening the site for visitors and tourists to become a historical and recreational site at the historical area of Jeddah.
