HRH King Fahd bin Abdulaziz Al Saud onated this fountain to the city of Jeddah.
It is said to be the tallest fountain in the world, exceeding even Geneva's famous jet d'eau by several metres.
It is only turned on when the King is residing at Al-Salam Palace, situated just across the water.
When floodlit by night, the fountain is visible for miles around.

Jeddah fountain is one of the beautiful landmarks which can be seen from far distances and many locations. It catches the eyes of approaching visitors whether coming by air, sea or road. It is located in parallel with the corniche area.
This famous fountain was built by orders of the Servant of the two Holy Mosques. It emits attractive colorful rays at night and flows upwards in an elegant water design thus adding beautiful verses to the graceful poem of beauty that is called Jeddah.
4000 cubic meters of water remain in the air forming a large mist of colorful haze. Thus water rushes upwards by means of three giant water pumps at a speed of 320 kilometers per hour and at a height of 261 meters.
King Fahad's Fountain
I've seen this particular attraction called a few different things, including King Fahad's Fountain. In general, names are based on one of the country's Kings, so you needn't really worry too much about forgetting the actual title of a particular stop. This fountain is an obvious copy of a much more famous one in Lac Leman. It is, likely, a tribute to Saudis' enduring love of Switzerland and Geneva in particular. I don't think that there's much else to do except to take a few photographs of the fountain, as there are no boat trips out to get closer to it, nor a particularly interesting sculpture that might attract you any farther than the Corniche.
