Prophet Mohammad Mosque: Night time prayers

    Before the dawn prayers

I know this is not what you had in mind as a night spot activitiy, but you`re in Madina,,what do you expect?

Night time prayers(not the isha)but what we call in Arabic Quiyam Al Layl....or in other words praying while others are asleep at night is greatly rewarded from Allah(God).
The mosque closes it`s gates after the isha prayers, but re-opens at 3:30am,just a little before (fajr)dawn prayers..so you will have a chance to pray and read Quran.

Doing this at the prophet`s mosque is something I will always hold close to my heart.

Dress Code: if you`re a woman, you should wear the hair scarf.

During Ramadaan (this is the 9th month of the islamic calender), there IS ONLY a nightlife. Nearly everyone sleeps during the day except for the essential prayer times, where the hustle and bustle of the streets settles down to silence. A good formula to follow is: Friday nights in prayer and saterday nights at taiba centre or gazza for shopping and socialising.

Dress Code: For women, its the hijab. Most wear black and totally covered except for the face and hands.

Despite the extreme heat of the daytime, Madinah can get quite pleasant at night, even in the dead of summer. Masjid an-Nabawi closes around midnight, but some stores remain open all night, so one can have an enjoyable experience at night going to eat after nighttime prayers.

Dress Code: Modest clothing: Women must cover their entire bodies, and heads, and men must cover their entire bodies, and preferably cover their heads.

A lovely shot from the courtyard of the Prophet's Mosque. Underneath this green dome lies Rasulullah (saw), Abu Bakr (ra) & Umar (ra).
