It`s well known that Madina has one of the best dates in the kingdom,when you visit Madina,make sure you buy some kilos of dates,they`re cheap,and very sweet.
you will find many locals selling it on vendors,or you can visit the central dates market.

At the Madina Oberoi hotel there is an archade attatched to it,if you use the escalators going down to the mosque,you will have to pass by the shops.

My daughter bought a very interesting picture book that has a wide collection of old and new pictures of both Madina and Makkah.

Work time: through the whole week from the dawn to 11 or 12 pm. On Friday, usually they open after 2 pm.

The perfume here are far much more cheaper compare to my own country, maybe because of the import tax etc. so my mum will always buy a lot of perfume when she visit Medina. Of course you can get something cheaper at the roadside vendors, but the smell are not the same & wont last too long...Maybe because of the quality.

There are so many small shops. They will be selling goods to millions of pilgrims from all over the world.
The shops selling textiles are bright and cheerful.
Those selling prayer beads are also colourful as the beads come in all materials : silver, amber, nuts, semi-precious stones, sandalwood.
Prayer mats likewise can be any colour.
Then there are all the other ordinary goods.

There are so many shops nearby Nabawi Mosque. So if you lose you sandals or you forget to pring your praying mat or you just need a tasbeeh before going to Nabawi, they sell all of knicks knacks of praing and other souvenirs that might interest you to bring home.
Don't forget to Bargain.
I met a particular good bargain : All item for SR 10. We bought Gamis (long dress for men) and a praying mat. They also have Baskin & Robbin in basement one of the Apartment (it's in front of Nabawi, but I forgot the name).

They say it's the Dates Plantation. But actually the plantation is not so great. They only have one shop that sells various kind of Dates and other snack related to Dates and various of nut; Pistachio, Almond, Macademia etc.
The Famous kind of Dates is the Prophet's Dates. It's sooo good!..not to sweet and very mild to chew.
But also very expensive, it costs SR 80 for 1 Kg while other dates around SR 15-40/ Kg. The ultimate selling point is there are a hadits mentions: If you eat 7 dates (of this kind), you'll be save from any poison or toxic in a day. Hmm..
I ended up bought the Sufi Dates, costly SR 20/Kg, and we thought it almost as good as the Famous one. Only less sweet, but it's perfect for my aching teeth.

medina is very famous by its dates.
you can find them everywhere, even just outside the mosque...
there are a lot of kind of them, from the green one until the one with peanut in it.
they're usually in boxes or sell in kilos.
the one in package is a good one if you want to buy for someone.
The date market is located about 2 km from the hotel. It is better to get a taxi and reach there. You will find number of shops with all type of dates on very competitive prices. You may have to bargain a little.
