YANBU by arabian10 Yanbu Industrial City In existence for only two decades, Yanbu Industrial City is already many things - a model industrial development, an attractive place to live, a community with unlimited potential. Part of Yanbu's success is due to nature, and the rest to history and design. Nestled on a coastal plain between the Red Sea and the Radhwa Mountains, Yanbu enjoys a location befitting a resort. The Red Sea - world-famous for its crystal waters and spectacular coral reefs - is an open invitation to sailing, snorkeling, and other aquatic sports. A few kilometers inland, the peaks and valleys of the rugged Radhwa range offer scenery that runs the gamut from flourishing oases to unspoiled wilderness. History, both ancient and modern, has also had a hand in Yanbu's development. The nearby settement of Yanbu AL-Bahr traces its origins back to pre-Roman times. For centuries, the historic community served as a popular way station for merchants plying the caravan routes of the Arabian peninsula, while its port was a major gateway for pilgrims visiting Makkah and Madinah. In the mid - 1970s, the Saudi government selected the Yanbu area as the site for a brand - new industrial city and, to create it launched one of the largest crash construction projects of all times. Today, with the first phase of development complete, Yanbu Industrial City is home to over 50 industrial enterprises and some 50.000 people. The new community is already a world center for the transshipment of crude oil and the manufacture and export of hydrocarbon and petrochemical products. Yanbu's history may be brief, but its development to date is impressive and its future promising. Leave a Comment
