 | Saudi Arabia Restaurants | Tips 1 - 10 of 51 | | Well first of all forgive me for not taking pictures of the restaurant ..as you are aware in my earlier tip that taking pictures in public places is often frowned upon by local (especially) and I was once warned by the captain to stop taking pic in the restaurant ( cant help it bcoz the Jap restaurant has got such beau. decor ...sigh ) Well the restaurant has got nice decor that makes you feel you are dining in one of the Maharajah's hall , cool indian instrumental music and tasty food
It will be Mutton and Prawn Curry ( I have tried a few and they tasted good ) . Another thing is the white plain rice is a whooping ( can you imagine you can get one plate of white rice outside for just USD 0.4 but here its whopping USD2.6 or ( Saudi riyal 10 ) In stark comparisan to the average dish of USD 6-9 per dish. me and my fren ordered 2 plate of white rice and ended up finishing only one plate ...sigh ..what a waste ... well talking about dining like a Maharaja ...( no doubt the rice is super delicious ...but when we think about those starving people in Africa ..I just couldnt imagine myself ordering such thing again ;-P Leave a Comment Theme: IndianPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Near Dammam Corniche and Al KhobarDirections: the on ein Al Khobar is near Silver Tower

A must try dessert is the Kunafah, although it`s widely known in all the Arab region(Egypt,Lebanon,Syria,,ect)where usually it`s filled with either fresh creamor Cheese, but here in Saudi it`s filled with cream & Banana`s. Here is one that I personally baked for a Ramadan feast.
If you buy it from a shop it`s sold by the kilo. Leave a Comment Theme: Dessert

One of the nicest Japanese restaurant you can find in the Eastern Province... The moment you step in the Restaurant which resides in marvelous compound ( which is now heavily guarded against possible terrorist attacks) ...you will be swept away by the samurai warriors in the entrance and standing along the staircase towards the restaurant ....they look fierce and eerie but makes the ambience look really cool ...
Though its a Japanese restaurant ...it has nonetheless addedd some other Eastern cuisine in the buffet menu ( just in case some doesnt really fancy raw sushi ) must be the fresh salmon, peking duck in spring rollsm, the kimchi and the lobster... There are so many different kinds of dates,,,the best ones are from Al-Madina Al Monawara,,or Al-Quaseem. this picture shows some dates with the seed taken out and replaced with walnuts, and another kind called Rotana.very sweet and tasteful!
Prices for the dates really range from one kind to another,,plus there are many shops who are specialised only in selling dates. They also offer special packing for special occaissions. Leave a Comment Theme: Local

This is one of our local food,it`s origin might be from Afganistan, but who knows? Anyways,,it`s sold almost all over the kingdom,in the eastren province it`s stuffed with vegetables only....and in Jeddah,Makka and Madina it`s either stuffed with minced beef and vegetables or bananas some restaurants also serve them stuffed with cheese and sugar. It`s a kind of dough folded like crepe but cut into pieces.
Mutabug means folded so there you go,,add some new words to your vocabulary ;-) Leave a Comment Theme: Local

My friend came to visit me and brought this fruit from her garden,,personally I couldn`t beleive that Papaya can grow in Saudi Arabia,,but I`m sure of my friend`s honesty,,and then my mother told me that long ago we had a Papaya tree as well in our old house`s garden.......so here we are facing two honest people telling us that it actually grows here ;-) Leave a Comment Theme: Other

This is our local summer fruit, it grows at many places in Saudi Arabia,But the best are from the city Ta`if. It is very sweet and moisty, and it`s eaten with it`s seeds, tastes heavenly when fridgerated. It`s sold at most supermarkets, but with it`s prickels,,and you can buy them from a street vendor ready peeled and cleaned :-) Leave a Comment Theme: LocalAddress: At Any street vendor

The Thursday and Friday night buffets at the Silver Tower Restaurant are probably about as good as fine dining gets in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia. The buffet consists of a variety of Chinese, Japanese and Korean dishes: Peking duck, teriyaki, tempura, kim chee etc. I must have been to this restaurant at least a dozen times, but in the end I stopped going because of the msg in the food. If you like an Oriental feast, Silver Tower is great; if you are into health food, it's not.
