Oasis Japanese Restaurant ...: The Last Samurai .....

by kenyneo

One of the nicest Japanese restaurant you can find in the Eastern Province...The moment you step in the Restaurant which resides in marvelous compound ( which is now heavily guarded against possible terrorist attacks) ...you will be swept away by the samurai warriors in the entrance and standing along the staircase towards the restaurant ....they look fierce and eerie but makes the ambience look really cool ... Though its a Japanese restaurant ...it has nonetheless addedd some other Eastern cuisine in the buffet menu ( just in case some doesnt really fancy raw sushi ) must be the fresh salmon, peking duck in spring rollsm, the kimchi and the lobster...

Copper Chadni: Maharaja's taste ....

by kenyneo

Well first of all forgive me for not taking pictures of the restaurant ..as you are aware in my earlier tip that taking pictures in public places is often frowned upon by local (especially) and I was once warned by the captain to stop taking pic in the restaurant ( cant help it bcoz the Jap restaurant has got such beau. decor ...sigh )Well the restaurant has got nice decor that makes you feel you are dining in one of the Maharajah's hall , cool indian instrumental music and tasty food It will be Mutton and Prawn Curry ( I have tried a few and they tasted good ) . Another thing is the white plain rice is a whooping ( can you imagine you can get one plate of white rice outside for just USD 0.4 but here its whopping USD2.6 or ( Saudi riyal 10 ) In stark comparisan to the average dish of USD 6-9 per dish. me and my fren ordered 2 plate of white rice and ended up finishing only one plate...

assorted: restaurants

by TomorrowsAngel

Restaurants are divided into two sections: a general eating area for men and a separate and usually smaller section for "families". This is either on another floor or is completely screened off from the view of anyone in the male section. Depending on the diligence of the mutawas, single women may or may not be allowed to eat alone in the family sections. And at fast-food, take-out restaurants there may or may not be a special window for women. If there isn't and there is no family section, either, then single women can't order anything at all.Sometimes in this case, like at Al Baik, there will be waiters outside who will take your order and money and go and get the food and change for you.

Dates Along with the Coffee

by marimar_72

There are so many different kinds of dates,,,the best ones are from Al-Madina Al Monawara,,or Al-Quaseem.this picture shows some dates with the seed taken out and replaced with walnuts, and another kind called Rotana.very sweet and tasteful! Prices for the dates really range from one kind to another,,plus there are many shops who are specialised only in selling dates. They also offer special packing for special occaissions.

Abu Zaid: Sweet mutabug

by marimar_72

This is the other kind of Mutabug,,it`s stuffed with bananas.....this is one of the cheapest food in Saudi Arabia,,a whole Mutabug costs about 5 Riyals(in most take away restaurants).which is almost 1.3 USD$.

Tip Photo
Abu Zaid: Mutabug?!!!!

by marimar_72

This is one of our local food,it`s origin might be from Afganistan, but who knows?Anyways,,it`s sold almost all over the kingdom,in the eastren province it`s stuffed with vegetables only....and in Jeddah,Makka and Madina it`s either stuffed with minced beef and vegetables or bananas some restaurants also serve them stuffed with cheese and sugar. It`s a kind of dough folded like crepe but cut into pieces. Mutabug means folded so there you go,,add some new words to your vocabulary ;-)

Saudi Arabia coffee!: Traditional coffee!

by marimar_72

The Saudi Arabian coffee is a very light drink that is served in very small cups. It`s mainly made of light brewd coffee beans mixed with cardamom, and sometimes also with Saffron. It is an old tradition that simbolizes hospitality. It`s usually served with dates. You will be offerd this coffee in almost every Saudi house you will visit.

by WASEEM_SHAH

IF IWILL TALK ABOUT RESTAURANTS, SO IT WILL BE MY OWN TYPE OF EASTERN RETAURANTS WILL COME FIRST.THERE WAS LAHORE RESTAURANT, KARACHI RESTAURANT,AND I DONT FORGET THE FAMOUS 'BIRYANI' FROM THE RESTAURANT WHICH WAS LOCATED NEAR TO SADYAAN ON THE AIR PORT ROAD AR MAIN ROAD.THE CHICKEN BROASTS WERE VERY DELICIOUS , ESPECIALLY WITH 'THOAM' THE GARLIC SAUCE,STILL MY MOUTH BECOME WATERRY WHEN I TALK ABOUT THE BROAST WITH 'THOAM'.SURELY THE PRICES WERE CHEEP THERE. IF WE WRER BUYING THE 'KAPSA' THE RICE, OR 'BIRYANI' THE RICE ALSO WITH CHICKEN , IT COAST US ONLY 10 SAUDI RIYALS WHICH WERE SUFFICIENT FOR US FOR ONE TIME. BIRYANI OF SADYAAN RESTAURANT WAS THE FAMOUS ONE. I AND MY FAMILY WAS USE TO TAKE THAT BIRYANI AND WREE USUALLY GOING TO THE PRINCE SULTAN PARK OR PARK AL WADI ON THE CIRCULAR ROAD, SIT ON OUR MAT ,EAT OUR DINNER IN VERY PLASWENT WEATHERE AND THEN THE CHILDREN GOES TO THE RIDES...
