Hammam al-Nahasin, or Bathhouse of the Coppersmiths, is in the oldest part of Aleppo's covered souk, and dates back to the early thirteenth century. It was restored in 1985. It is now one of the most luxurious hammams in Aleppo, with a circular steam room under a domed roof.

    Hammam an-Nahaseen

The 2nd choice of hamman in Aleppo. Sauna and bath only cost SYP250. This place has more local and not so luxurious. In fact, inside is quite primitive. If you only have time for one hammam, Hammam Yalbougha an-Nasry should be the choice, not this one.

It locates in the souq, south of the Great Mosque.

    inside the hammam an nahaseen

Visiting the hammam el Nahasin requires a bit of luck, if you are a woman. I just happened to pass by, looked inside from the door, saw a nice (modern) pine-wood interior with with red caprtes and cushions... and wondered if I could go inside. Luck was on my side: it's a men-only hammam but, as no one was using it at the moment - the man at the entrance let me wander around and take a few pics. I could only see the rest area (cold room?) but I really found it fascinating. The official sign outside claims that the original hammam was built in the 13th century!
