Platinum, Amigos, Laterna, Back-door, Le Serail: Nightlife in Damascus

by Danielmar

Allright people, those are few tips on clubbing in Damascus, Syria. first, you need to know there are two different kinds of nightclubs in Damascus. the 1st is for men customers only where more or less prostitutes dance and men pay money to have drinks with them and probably some extra stuff. the 2nd kind of nightclubs are the normal ones where friends or couples go out at night to have fun. for the 2nd kind of clubs there are many in Damascus and as far as I know the best are the followings: Platinum (close to four seasons hotel in central Damascus), Laterna (29 Ayar st, central Damascus), Back-Door (next to Barada sports club), Le Serail (Bab sharqi, on the wall of the old city), Amigos (10 minutes drive from Damascus on Damascus-Aleppo Highway), and there are other smaller Bars in the old city like Piano bar and Marmar which are not bad at all. The English pub in Sheraton hotel is...

Things to do in the evening

by Clara_Louise

In Damascus and Alleppo there are bars and nightclubs. You'll have to ask where they are as I can't remember names but a hotel, taxi driver or young man will be able to advise! Some are sleazy, some are nicer, so bear in mind who you ask...In Alleppo there were some classy bars in the Christian quarter and some clubs with dancing. The nightlife is subdued though. For a relaxed evening, the Syrian version of a bar has sheesah and tea. There will be lots of men having lively conversation and, bizarrely, playing backgammon or chess. Women are perfectly welcome to go and will be very safe but you may get some surprised looks!I walked back to my hotel at night on my own sometimes and felt fine.

A drink at Barons Hotel, Aleppo

by MalenaN

Baron Hotel was built in 1909 and was once one of the best hotels in Middle East. Many famous guests have been staying here, like T.E. Lawrence, Charles Lindbergh, Zsa Zsa Gabor and Agatha Christie (she wrote the first part of Murder on the Orient Express here). Now it has lost much of its former glory, but the bar is a nice place to visit for a drink or two. I had a Campari with orange juice, which was very good!

Life at night

Like all the other Syrian cities Hims is so secured to walk through even in the latest hours of the night, and it is safe, the summer nights are sleepless, as many Syrian people likes to make white nights parties!

If you're renting a shaleh in the Golden Sands, this is the greatest time to chat with neighbors and enjoy the great stars and moon over the sea, and smoking a water pipe, you'll never forget these memories never!
