When you go to Adana, i recommend you to leave the motorway at Pozanti direciton and stop by Tekir Pleateu. This plateu is full of people in the summer. Since Adana is very hot, people run away from the city especially at the weekends to this lovely place. However, during winter there are only a few who lives there. Summer or winter you can alway find a place to eat barbeceu. Just stop by a butcher and buy meat, they would cook it for you and serve it. I recommend tasting "sucuk" there. Sucuk is a sausage made (as of turkey) to resemble bologna.
On your way (or way back to) Adana you can stop by Sekerpinari. It is where the world famous Sekerpinari spring water comes out. The "Hayat Su" branded dringking water which you can find everywhere in Turkey is bottled here. Of coruse at Sekerpinari you can drink it for free from the drinking fountain !
Nearby the spring there is a touristic place for the passengers that stop by. They serve "halka" sweet which is a speciality of Adana. It is delicouys but very very sweet, not recommended for diabetics...You can taste halka and drink the spring water before continue your way.
Please remember that Sekerpinari is on Toros Mountains (very close to Pozanti district of Adana) and it is always very cool. You would need to take something on you if you decide to stop there even for a few minutes...
