The Big Bazaar (Carsi)
Adana has many shopping places from very large shopping malls on the outskirts (such as M1/Real and the Carrefour Hypermarket) to the more upscale shopping area in the city (with Gucci and the like, boutiques, reasonably-priced clothing stores, nice cafes), but my favorite place to shop is the bazaar or carsi in Turkish (pronounced char-sha) somewhere in the middle of the city. This is a large place with an interior and exterior section, it's a place where locals shop - you can buy so many things here... just about anything. Home goods and kitchenware, textiles, electric appliances, cell phones, a large meat section, lots of spices, nuts, toys, shoes, clothes, excellent tea, beauty supplies, tabbacco, bags, purses, watches, DVDs and many more things. Vendors outside sell snacks and fruit on pushcarts and there are small restaurants nearby. It's a very colorful and bustling place, but...
