  • Eymir Lake - Ankara
    Eymir Lake
    by Profsmiley
Eymir Lake is the smallest of the three lakes in Ankara. Surrounded by tall trees, and housing many birds including ducks, the lake is a great spot for hiking, cycling, fishing, rowing and other outdoor activities...

The lake is about 20 km (16 miles) away from the city center. To get there, you can either drive or take a bus to Gölbasi. There are buses from Kizilay (No: 105) and Ulus (No: 104)...

Please check out my Eymir travelogue for more info.

Ankara has 2 big lake. Mogan is at the Golbasi town. Eymir is the smaller river which belongs to Middle east technical university. But you may reach from Oran area and walk around the lake if you have extra time..

eymir golu is a nice little lake in the outskirts of ankara.
it has a lot of cafes and is a favorite hangout for ankara intellectuals.
i really like chilling out there with some fish and beer while chatting to university turks.
the place is hard to reach though and you will need your own transport in order to get there.

Polatli is a big town which is 76 km from Ankara. It is important for Turkish travellers.
Gordion(yassi hoyuk) is a ancient area but there are also something to see about Turkey's big war for independence. Bombardier's school museum also worth to see.

Elmadag is the highest mountain of Ankara. We can ski sometimes but I don't advice. It is not easy to go there either. I just wanted to put a photo from there too. :-))

You may say ODTU (Orta Dogu Teknik Üniveritesi) in Turkish. It is one of the best university in Turkey. There are many international students here. Students can go to US or Europe from here easily. It has a good education, good campus, nice forest, many activities, concerts etc. Eymir lake also belongs to university. But it is far from university.

    Safranbolu
A small village just a couple hours bus ride away. Perhaps Turkey's most charmingly authentic village (at least as far as the architecture goes). It is very popular with Turkish tourists but not so much so with foreigners. It is truly a lovely place to spend a couple of days while you arrange how you are going to avoid Ankara.

  • One of the best points (in the picture) is to see the beatiful view of Ankara next to Ataturk's Mausoleum. I thing that any tourist should not miss when traveling to this city.

    Soguksu National Park-Kizilcahamam

  • Ankara has various points of interest. Pages can never include its richness completely. Kizilcahamam is one of my favourites. Soguksu National Park is only 100 kms away from Ankara and that easily makes Kizilcahamam a place to go. It is possible to access higher points of mountains. Views are great over there, its maximum height is 1800 metres. Enjoy clear skies and feel the magic of pine trees...
