  • Tip Rating:
  • If yor are coming from Istanbul, train is the best way. It's comfortable, but not frequent. For a comfortable voyage, you must use Baskent Express (daytime) or Fatih Express(night time).. check the website for timetables: www.tcdd.gov.tr... There is also cheaper trains

If you are coming from other cities, you can use bus. It's comfortable. Ulusoy, Varan and Boss are the best bus lines. Kamil Koc, Uludag, Pamukkale, Nilufer are OK.
You can use buses, taxis, mini buses (dolmush), ankaray and metro. You can buy a ticket of 5 or 10 passes from any metro and ankaray station and use it in ankaray, metro and red buses. There is green and blue buses. You have to pay for theese in the bus. They are more expensive then metro, ankaray or red buses.

  • From almost all of the capitals of Europe, you can find flights to Ankara.
The airport is quite far from city center, so do not try taxi. The shuttles are reasonable.

From other cities to Ankara you can come by Train, or Bus. Buses are faster and more comfortable but be aware of the high percentage of traffic accidents.

Istanbul is 6 hours by bus, 7-9 hours by train (rare)
Izmir is 9 hours by bus, 16 hours by train.
    (Trains are ceheaper in Turkey)
Try Dolmus, although they are not good in Istanbul, in Ankara Dolmus is the best and fastest way to travel, but, of course select metro or Ankaray if it reaches to the destination you want to go.

    To reach Ankara is not...
  • Tip Rating:
  • To reach Ankara is not difficult. Most countries have flights to the city's Esenboga Airport, and from this airport there are regular flights to the major cities of Turkey. Ankara is the center of Turkey's excellent and very extensive coach network; and it is possible to travel to and from the city to most Turkish towns and cities, and many major European cities. Turkish railways offer a more leisurely mode of travel to a number of cities.

  • Tip Rating:
  • You can reach Ankara by all means except the SEAWAY.So dont look for ticket to Ankara in What most people do they take buses as it is faster. You can see in this link 2 of the main bus companies and their contact information.I must confess that the traffic in Ankara is much better then Istanbul as this is a new city having large streets.

Once in Ankara I called a taxi , soonest I was in the driver asked me if I was from Istanbul. I asked him how he knew that .He said : very easy here people never jump fust in the cabs like in your city. You in Istanbul sometimes are very happy and rushy when you can finally get a taxi in rainy or cold days.....
Very detailed information on how to reach Ankara
