This museum has it all, with artifacts from the earliest origins of Man all the way to present. An amazing number of ancient cultures controlled Ankara at one time or another. Therefore the displays range from paleolithic to Bronze Age to Iron Age to Classical Greek to Roman, etc. It is truly an incredible range of noteworthy art and artifacts.Wikipedia calls it "one of the richest museums in the world" and I have to agree. Well worth the $7 or $8 to see. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Museum_of_Anatolian_Civilizations)Oh, and while in the city, go check out the Attaturk Mausoleum. I hear it is worth the trip, but I haven't made it there yet.
When you get in to the Kizilay , which is the most crowdy and busy pleace of Ankara,you will see.There is a street, actually square which named Sakarya.There are everything,especially Bars,puds,bookstores,fish shops,live music cafes,discos and a lot of food shops.I m sure you will like there.
I mean there are no enough words to explain this museum.Cause as we all know , in Anatolia,there was huge and a lot of different empires,arts,people,religion etc. used to live...So you can not imagine howmany thousands of objects they have got in this museum and how beatifull and amazing they are.So have a look.
I use to live in Ankara , cause of , I know almost everywhere and this is a place there you have to go and see , huge lake with a lot of pine and oak trees and jogging ways and a couple of little restaurants or lets call buffets with fish between brett or sucuk - ekmek and so on...Also you can have a picnik there to...A lot to do,also like fishing...well , if you want a quite day ...
The biggest museum in Ankara and also the biggest museum in the world about Anatolian history. I do not have a great knowledge about this place as I am not interested in history very much but that is the most important place to see in Ankara if you are interested in history or culture tourism.
If you want to see a nice panoramic view of Ankara' you shall go to Atakule take the elevators to the top and enjoy the city. I can advice you to do this at sunset as Ankara is very flat to the west and sunsets are nice in Ankara.
