    FUN FAIR

Not quite sure what this was but i think it was a fun fair for the local people, it was empty and didn't look very popuar or inviting, it was on the main coastal road leading in the Alanya

    A DRINK WITH A VIEW

We found this lovely little place near to the top of the fortress where you can have a nice cold drink with spectacular views over Alanya and the mountains, great place to unwind after a long walk up to the fortress

    TWILIGHT

In Alanya most of the tourist agents do a thing called the sunset cruise, as it sounded quite different from what we normally would do we thought we would give it a go, and the next few photos will show you how beautiful the Turkish sunsets can be

    ALANYA BOAT TRIP

    CAVES AROUND ALANYA

Its funny coz every time i visit Turkey i have to try the local boat trip but this one has to rate as the best. On this trip the boat took us to the first swimm stop which was below the famous fortress. the owner of the boat said that anyone who was feeling adventurous could go with him, well my kids decided to volunteer me. There was about 10 of us who dived off the boat and headed for the rocks, then came a little rock climbing up to a very small cave, at this point i was thinking how the bloody hell are we going to get down. Next was a little bit of pot holing through the cliffs untill i could see daylight on the other side, when we reached the other side my worst fears came true, the only way down to the boat which had met us on the other side was to jump off this cliff which was 50ft high in to the water below hahahahaha. Well after 15 mins of trying to pluck up enough guts to jump i finally did it, and i came down like a sack of sh#t hahahaha. What a buzz i got from that trip.

When visiting the Red Tower and the Alanya Castle ... don't forget to look around and, enjoy the sea-view and, also the land-views. Like the Eastern Beach view included clouds ... maybe just like in Cleopatra times ... enjoy your trip!

TAKE A CAMELRIDE - but be selective!

    by Maria_75 Written Oct 1, 2004

My friend and me getting ready for the ride

In areas around Alanya there are many places where you can take camelrides. Especially near Dim Çay and the Dim Caves. It's really great to sit on these incredible animals and view the landscape.

If you have the possibility try to take a camelride while you are there. But be selective! Some people care more about making money than caring for their animals. If it looks like they don't take so much care of their camels then choose someone else that does.

Don't support abuse of animals anywhere in the world!

    RENT A CAR OR MOTORBIKE

View of Alanya from the mountain

A great way to see Alanya and the area around is to rent a car or motorbike. Me and my friend borrowed a motorbike and drove around in the mountains, you have a great view of the city from here! Find a small beach outside of the city all to yourself, explore the small villages in the mountain and view the great landscapes. After a long day on the bike we headed to Dim Çay for a dinner and a bath, a great way to end a perfect day.

Another time we rented a really old car that seemed to break apart if we stared hard at it. The roads in the mountains are not the best and combined with this car it was really a bumpy ride! I had blue marks all over after this trip... And the same day it was a earthquake in the area. No real damage was done, but a lot of windows broke and things inside houses got broken. But as we already were in a earthquake-like car we didn't notice it at all... ;)
