TURKISH CARPETS by whitecliff62 If you are really serious about buying a carpet in Turkey then visit as many carpet shops as you can before making your mind up, in Alanya there are loads of carpet shops so finding one you like should be easy, the hard bit is deciding how much to pay. There is a very good tip to learn when buying a good quality carpet, first make sure it is 100% wool and then turn the carpet over and check the closeness of the weave, in general the tighter the weave and the smaller the knots, the higher the quality. Also carpets with natural dyes tend to fetch a higher price than the chemical dyes so try not to be ripped off into buying a natural dye carpet when you might be buying a chemical dye carpet. One more big, big, tip to learn as i found to my cost, do not be tempted into buying a carpet at or on a tour, as this is on the photo, the price will be at least 35% higher to cover the tours overheads. I found in Alanya that some shops will actually check your credit and let you pay in instalments and then arrange to have your carpet shiped back home for you. And remember, haggle for everything, IT COULD SAVE YOU LOADS OF CASH. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

center-shops-alanya by RoyJava The bazaar, full of colours, and the happy night-life made Alanya very popular with local and European tourists. Alanya is great to shop and you'll find prices that are relatively low. Explore the old town and go Eastside in the streets along the beach. Get your leather goods, shoes, bags, clothes, spices, tea, gold and silver (one street even is named "Gold Street"). Here is "haggling" a must, thought don't play with the guys! Too many tourist got to be stuck by their ridiculous bids (it's not Indonesia).
A beautiful Turkish carpet! When want to buy a "Kilim" (Turkish carpet) get some good info about! The colourful and beautiful carpets has been known for over 3.000 years and differ from other oriental carpets (for its double knots). A pity we haven't took the time to go for a good deal ... Visit as many as possible shops before you make a deal ...
Buying a Gucci/Coco Chanel t-shirt, a Louis Vuiton purse and Versace shawl the prices are indeed ridiculous, so donot go higher as 1 Euro per item when buying a lot ... Leave a Comment

Bazaar by HyperFredde Oh my god! Turkey is a popular place in Scandinavia, probably because it is cheap in Turkey. You can buy stuff that you actually buy at home, but difference is the price. Of course there are just copies, but who will know that when you wear the clothes at home? You have got to bargain! I recommend at least 30 - 50 %. If you don't like the price, just go a way slowly and they will scream "I make ... whatever the price you wanted".
Clothes, jewels, watches & lether.
You should not pay more than €10 for 5 t-shirts, not more than €10 for 10 boxershorts (I got 16 for 10 euros). Leave a Comment Theme: OtherDirections: Everywhere, it is cheaper the further you are from the harbor, but still it is very cheap there.

by Monique_T This is not just about one shop but about the market. I just love to go to the Turkish markets. I think it is fun, they have a lof on sale, it's nice to walk around and look at all the stuff. And ofcourse buy a lot. It is not expensive in Turkey so I usually spend too much money there. And part of the game is that you have to bargain there. I am not all good at that but my husband is, so that's his job.
I bought some gold there, a bag, shirts, apple tea, Turkish delight (I just love that), but there is lots and lots more. Leave a Comment Theme: Other
