    mersin to alanya

by machk Written Apr 28, 2008

i hava a flat in anamur where is between alanya and mersin.I advice you to stay for some days in Anamur. It is not a famous place in turkey but There are lots of wonderful historical places to visit.(www.anamur.org)
And for transportation i advice you to hire a car.It is not so expensive.Between alanya and mersin the roads are full of bends. The best comfortable way is travelling with ur own car.And also the scene is perfect. One side is green forest and the other side is deep blue sea.I belive that u want to stop in every 15 minutes and take photos. If you listen my advises u will be very happy because i have been travelling between mersin and alanya for over ten years:))

    public bus

by iaint Updated Aug 21, 2013

The public bus service stopped outside our hotel every 10 minutes. It was a 10 minute trip into downtown Alanya. Air conditioned & modern vehicles.
Cost is 2ytl or 1€ each way. You pay the driver, so change or small notes is a good idea - no tickets are issued.
A computer display will tell you where the bus is, and where the upcoming stops are. Stops are announced as well. You just have to know which one you’re heading for.
One wee tip - in Turkey men are expected to give up their seats for women. Young people are expected to give their seats for old people and mothers with children. Old fashioned, but nice.

    flights

    departures

The nearest big airport is Antalya, 110km to the west. Our tour company transported us, so I’m not sure how it works if you’re doing it the independent way. Trip takes about 2 hours.
Gazipaşa is nearer (29km) but I’ve no idea what services are available.
It’s big, bright, cool and well organised. On the downside, prices at all the catering outlets (run by the same company, so no competition) are 4 times what you’ll pay downtown. Total rip off.

    car rental

by iaint Written Sep 1, 2013

We rented our car from ALP - they had a wee advert at the hotel reception.

€40 per day for a 4 door Fiat Albea with aircon. An extra €10 for fully comprehensive insurance. Fuel is extra - the car was delivered empty, and putting some in was our first task.

They bring the car to the hotel, so it should all be painless. He brought the wrong one for us, so we were held up about an hour.

It was much cheaper than paying for 4 of us to go on an excursion!

    Use taxis!

by petrax Written Jun 8, 2004

When I was in Alanya, it wasnýt yet a tourist trap and I hope it hasnýt changed so much from those days. Use taxis! They were really cheap and it was cheap to rent them for hours and just drive around the town and to the upper hills.

    Rent a jeep!

    by Monique_T Updated May 7, 2003

One day we rented a car and just drove around. We had a map and decided just to go and see where we would end up. I can really recommend this way of getting around as you see quite a bit of places you wouldn't have seen some other way. We had a lot of fun. We drove into mountains where we had a lot of rain and no roof on the jeep ofcourse! We also had to wait somewhere for a little while as there was a cow on the road which wouldn't move.

    Taxi in alanya

A taxi is the way to go in alanya for a tourist, I would´n rent a car here because they drive like crazy here. Every day there was at least two car accidents while we were there.

    Getting there

The best way to get there is by plane. You arrive at Antalya Int. Airport. Then take the bus to Alanya. It takes about two hours.
