In terms of bathing culture, however, not much has changed since Ottoman times. After undressing cabins around the camekan, the entry courtyard, and wrapping in the PESTEMAL,a colourful checked towel, the visitor proceeds through the SOGUKLUK,a room of moderate temperature,to the HARARET,the steamy hot area of the bath. This marble clad central room of the bath is covered by a dome with round glass openings that allow daylight to fall inside in a beautiful pattern.
The walls are ringed with individual marble basins where bathers wash themselves. The center of the HARARET is occupied by a large platform(GOBEK TASI),where the hamam attendant treats visitors to an exfoliating body scrupy mitt(KESE) and an invigorating,if not occasionally rough, massage afterwards..

SEFA HAMAMI is an other unique 600 years old Historical Turkish bath in Kaleici(citadel)
It is not a place for touristic spots,it is an authentic Turkish bath.
You can also have in there soap, oil massage and peeling.
    Turkish bath:13 YTL
    Peiling(KESE):5 YTL
    Soap massage:6 YTL

    River at Selge
    by uglyscot
A trip up into the Taurus mountains is a sheer delight. The area is forested and has rivers fast enough for white water rafting. At Selge there is a Roman bridge across the river,
The day we went we experienced a sudden downpour and the river suddenly turned brown with the mud carried down.
We also were invited into a house for tea. We sat on carpets and cushions on the floor , and glasses of mint tea were poured from a samovar in the centre of the room. True hospitality for a group of strangers.

She was Perge's greatest benefactress, responsible for its being adorned with monuments and statues.
As a result of her generosity, the people of Perge, the city council(demos&boule) and senate erected statues o her in various places,on the pedestals of which are inscribed the titles and duties awarded to her. These inscriptions also show her to have been considered as a demigoddness, the title of the city's highest civil servant. She was likewise Artemis Pergaia's priestess, life time priestess,of the mother of the gods,as well as priestess-in chief of the imperial cult.

Icons are paintings made in order to teach religion to the people and also to carry out acts of worship in the ritual of the Orthodox Christian religion.By day and night Christians worshipped with candles lit in front of these icons depicting Jesus and the Virgin Mary and other divine, respected and sainted figures as also scenes from their lives and depictions of incidents reported in the Holly Bible including scenes from Old Testament. But paying homage to an icon is not actually for its material form,as prayers are offered to the subject represented by the depiction, rather than to the depiction itself.
There are 2 kinds of icons according to their types:
    1-icons in worship,
    2-icons employed for teaching.
Not only wood was used as the support for icons, but also materials such as;marble, ivory, mosaics, glass have been employed.

In the same year, the upper half of the statue which was illegally taken by smugglers, was found to have been smuggled abroad. As the result of research it was shown that the upper half of the statue was being exhibited in the New York Metropolitan Museum of Arts, and that it was in the possession of the Boston Museum of fine Arts and the collectors Shelby White and Leon Levy in USA.
Negotions are still being continued by the Turkish side and collectors,to obtain the return of this illegally smuggled upper part of the statue.
