The Republic Square
Along the same name (Cumhuriyet Caddesi or Republic Street), the cities most popular square is the Republic Square. A monument of the valiant Ataturk riding a horse is in the center of the big square.
On the edges of the square facing the ocean are terraces overlooking the red roofed mansions of the Kaleici, the Yivli Minaret on the left side, the historical harbor and the vast ocean.

On the Republic Square you will find the statue of Ataturk. Ataturk was the father of the nation and their first president. He did a lot to bring about reform and was a man of great vision. Situated in the middle of the square this monument is a good meeting place.

Like in every Turkish city Antalya has its statue of Atatürk, the father of the nation. In Antalya it stands on Cumhurieyet Meydani (Republic Square), which is just by Kaleici (Old Town). Standing in the middle of the square this monument is a good meeting place.
Mustafa Kemal Ataturk is a Turkish hero and you can see him everywhere in Turkey. He made many reforms in order to bring Turkey to the level of contemporary civilizations. Some of his reforms are: abolishment of the Sultanate, declaration of the Republic, women were given equal rights with men, the surname law, abolishment of nicknames, pious and royal titles, adoption of the international calendar, time and measurements, adoption of the new Turkish alphabet.
In 1921 Atatürk - The Father of Turkish People ! freed Antalya from its foreign occupants and to comemorate this victory this Statue was built in Antalya, which shows Atatürk leading th Turks. Its a big and beautiful Statue. The view from this place of the Roman Harbour is worth seeing as well.
