Hope nobody ever has to use this tip but should you be unfortunate to have a traffic accident in Turkey on no accounts move the car - it must be left in situ, even if blocking the road, so that the local Jandarma can deal with with it. Not to do so risks invalidating your insurance and at the very least you will have to wait for the traffic police to arrive to take measurements and details etc....
This happened to us in Patara (fortunately towards the end of our sightseeing) - natural instinct was to pull in and park the car to assess the damage We had to wait over 2 hours for the traffic police to arrive as they had to deal with a far more serious accident in Kalkan. Fortunately for us only the car was damaged nobody hurt but it was embarrassing as it was the first day we had the hire car. I must add Addatours who we hired the car from were really good - they came out to us in Patara and did all the sorting out for us, took us back to our base and delivered us a new car the next morning. They even deducted the unused petrol in the first car from our rental price.
Beware the Kalkan Taxi Mafia
The taxi drivers have this year formed a consortium and hiked up charges by at least double. What used to cost 4TRY, now cost 12-15TRY depending on the time of day. I would suggest you read the Kalkan forum on trip adviser for more info. This was my third and final visit to Kalkan, I don’t appreciate being told by a taxi driver to get off the hotel coach. Yes that is true, they are almost a mafia and think they are above the law but it’s Kalkan who will suffer in the longer term as Turkey is a great place to holiday with lots of choice.

From the pick-up at Dalaman Airport all eight of us in the back of a 2004 Volkswagen minibus felt pretty unsafe. Travelling at night the Turkish roads are pretty treacherous at a sensible speed - but our driver seemed hell bent on going as fast as he could. Breaking the speed limit over bad quality roads we hurtled towards Kalkan. Following a four hour flight we were all tired and most of us fell asleep. Those who managed to stay awake then witnessed our driver flashing his cab lights on and off and turning up the radio - in an attempt to keep himself awake.
We were then all rudely awoken as he fell asleep and we veered into a 5m ditch towards a motorway sign. The minibus ended up on its side, the seats came away from the base of the vehicle and we were a pile of people and seats and luggage.
Our injuries were varied and extensive ranging from sprains and bruises to broken backs and temporary paralysis. Some are still in hospital 2 weeks later...
