Köprülü Canyon National Park

by canadiantrav

After visiting Aspendos we continued to our next destination of Koprulu Canyon which was 37 km off the main Antalya - Side highway. Offically it is called Köprülü Canyon National Park and is in the mountains 49km northeast of Antalya. The road was good, a bit narrow at times and very curvy. As we approached along the road we started to noticed a few small hotels or pansiyons, fish restaurants with decks jutting out over the gorge and rafting companies. Rafting is a very popular sport in this area as the waters are perfect and the scenery is very beautiful with rich vegetation. We then came upon the first bridge call the '' Roman stone bridge '' and I was surprized that you could still drive across this bridge allthough very narrow. The bridge was built in the Roman period in the 2nd century A.D and is about 20m long.We parked up top the hill and then made our way down to the river's...

The next ancient town

by lillyia

Running around... Perge is the next short-stop. Ancient town. It's the sunset. Marvellous and impossible to be described. Very interesting carvings on the stones - among the typical flowers we found a bull, several faces and a horse figures. An ancient theatre and some more remaining are in the immediate neighbourhood, but we have no time for that. This is the end of the day. Sunset.

Sunken cities and tombs

by TheTurkishBrit

Kekova lies to the west of Antalya. Access is by road (approx 25km before reaching Kas, signposted Üçagiz, and then 20Km through the hills and villages) or by boat from Demre or Kas.Arrive by road and cresting a hill you suddenly see the most stunning bay, dotted with islands and yachts. Park and then walk past the school and the mosque, resisting the stalls of carpets and handicrafts, to find a fishing boat to take you across the bay to Kekova. Kekova itself is a tiny village clinging to the hillside and topped by a castle. It's worth a climb up, but very hot in summer. Once down again you can enjoy a drink at the waters edge, wonder at the tombs rising from the sea, and enjoy the antics of the local kids fishing. Across the bay you can marvel at the city that lies beneath the water (no diving allowed)There are small pansiyon in both villages and it is worth staying to enjoy the stars...

Grab a bottle of wine and head to Phaselis

by mehbos37

Take a bus from Kemer or Tekirova or rent a car for 40$ per day and go to Phaselis.Walk in the endless forest in the outskirts of town.Pass the main street and contiune to the western harbour side.If you are lucky enough catch the sunset and drink a spirit of your own choice. If you are with someone special ,just hug her/him.If you are with friends ,make a day to remeber by walking over the sea and taking artistic pictures..
