I never saw an airport before where everything was so phantastically overprized as here - and this in a country which has in general a very comfortable level of costs for tourists. Even the Duty Free shops are outrageously expensive - Turkish Raki for example is cheaper in Austria and many other EU countries than in this Duty Free.
Unique Suggestions: The best you can do is just to ignore here everything and wait for your flight. And stock up with some drinks before you board the bus to the airport if you think that you may get thirsty before take-off....
Fun Alternatives: Dont worry, even if your flight might be late - the time will pass by... and if you arrive for example at the Munich airport you may go to the Air-Braeu, the only one brewery which is on an airport and you may have half a litre beer - produced right here a few meters from you - in pleasant surroundings for 2 EUR.

Fock me.. Side seems to be the worst place to visit in Turkey ever. I was there in july. Lots of turists - ok. But locals.. Imagagine on istance of 15 meters 20 Turks tryin to sell something, each of them had the same way to grab a turist - "hello my friend, where are you from?". grrr especially the second part made me sick.. 1000 times a day. I know Turkish hospitality, but they there just crossed the line. there.

this year the pestering by shop keepers has decreased dramtically, Its almost a pleasure to stroll through the old town.Apparently if the shopkeeper is reported to the tourist police they close the shop down for 48 hours.
However once inside its still hangling but enjoy it .
Side market on Saturdays is good for friut and veg but the rest is tourist tat good for fake goods but watch the prices most of the stuf is obtainable in uk at similar prices.

The main street of the old centre of Side connecting the Amphitheatre with the harbour is a huge tourist trap and it seems that most tourists are fully aware of it - we saw only very few people in the shops despite of all the hectic efforts of the numerous touts.
Unique Suggestions: Just walk in the middle of the street...

This is a rule in Turkey, if You miss this simple question You could expect to pay twice as much for the things you buy or eat or drink
Fun Alternatives: Tell the salesman that You didnt pay this much a couple of days ago, and add with a smile - it must be a misstake!
