Some say it's glass pyramid central atrium is gross, vulgar, and out of place in a city with rich heritage such as Bursa. But like IM Pei's glass pyramid at the Louvre, Zafer's version offers a striking contrast and welcome break to the city's historical buildings. It rather complements the city's otherwise monotonous architecture.
This is probably Bursa's ritziest shopping place with some well-known brands. Speaks mainly about Bursa's good economic fortune, which is also evident in the city's well-dressed cafe-going class. The open air square near Starbucks is a great place to people watch and enjoy your latte.

Zafer Plaza Shopping Centre is a huge complex in several floors with almost all modern stores you can think of.
There is also a floor for food: McDonald’s etc.
Coming here felt like a big contrast from the hans and streets north of Atatürk Caddesi.

What to buy: Kestane sekeri - candied chestnuts.
Although one can find them elsewhere, the local candy/treat in Bursa is kestane sekeri, candied chestnuts. The trees grow in profusion near Bursa and more so than other towns one sees the candied nuts for sale everywhere, including the main otogar. They're delicious and there are whole nuts soaked in syrup or nuts ground up in chocolate in various mixtures. One can buy them bulk or sealed in jars to take home!

What to buy: Board Games. Ok, for those who still enjoy this mode of entertainment, there are some bargains & nice pieces to be had here.
As for me, I prefer high-tech gadgets though occassionally I like to have a good game of Backgammon! Especially when I win most of the time, lol.... & if they do make Mah Jong set, I might just be tempted to get one!

What to buy: Jewellery boxes, perfume bottles, etc.. etc...
They are truly beautiful pieces & for those of us who love beautiful things (be it living or otherwise), it's very tempting to add them to the large collection of "collections" at home. You see, after having been traveling & shopping my entire life, I am beginning to wonder what madness has prevailed over the last decades for all those so-called "collections" that are sitting right at home collecting more dust! & when I have to move house, it's a headache that never seems to go away! Another madness I've to contend with. Oh well, what's new in this world, right? ;->
