Cagri: Cheap & cheerful
This cheap and cheerful place is located opposite the Hagia Sophia right in the heart of the town centre. I came here an had a good Adana Kebab and watched Turkish football on TV. Other options on the menu include pizzas, burgers, meatballs, pide and breakfast.
Dagdibi Alabalik: Best Alabalik fish around Iznik
Dagdibi alabalik restaurant is located near Elbeyli village, 10 km from Iznik.
The restaurant tables are on a platform. You can see Alabalik fishes in water, moving under the platform. They use a special butter and to fry Alabalik fish. Cheap and delicious.
Favorite Dish: Alabalik fried in butter, salad, drink
Gozleme stand: Quick, scenic, eat
Having had a hearty breakfast in Bursa, I wasn't that hungry when I visited Iznik. It's more out of curiosity that I found myself enjoying a gozleme (local pancake) snack on a lakeside park. The pancake was thin and delicate, just how gozlemes should be (so I was briefed), with local soft cheese as filling and black olives on the side.
Over this simple snack, had an interesting discussion with a mid-aged Turkish father of two (son of lady who owns the snack stand). Had interesting discussion on eroding values of the Turkish youth, his reluctance to see Turkiye join EU, and his fascination for Asia.

Köfteci Yusuf: Good meatballs
They serve good meatballs very quick. I advice to drink Ayran with it. (But it may make you sleepy sometimes!)
Favorite Dish: Meat ball
