    Is another village of Gokceada that is located on the west side of the island is Ugurlu.The village is pretty small and most of the residents there work as farmers If you get though the village and turn right it will lead you to a wonderful sandy beach just next to Gizli Liman

Gokceada Transportation

  • BUS

    Buses route start and finish in Merkez centre next to Taylan restaurant and hotel. They are a bit slow but it is the cheapest way to travel around the island. Information about the times and routes are written on the office next to the starting point

    The best way to travel from one part of the island to another quickly is by taxi. The main place that you can find them is in Merkez area next to Kemal Ataturk statue. The bad thing about taxis is that there are standard fares from one place to another, but sometimes the fares are twice as much than taxis in instabul

    Ask which areas you can visit (for example it is forbidden to enter marmaros forest without permission during the summer) or to photograph many parts of the island are consider as military areas

    If you want to visit Gokceada you definetly need a car to visit evrywhere properly. There is only one petrol station on the whole island. It is very close to center. On the way to Kuzuluk ferry marina to center. Make sure that u filled your car against bad surprises.

    The most importing thing is make sure that you have plenty o fdrinking water before you arrive there, because there is no cafe or market around this place. Under the strong sunlight it is not funny to have nothing to drink. i know by experience!

    Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: Packing list for Gokceada is pretty much depending on the season. For almost all year except summer you might need jackets, jeans, long sleeves shirts, pants or trousers, raincoat
    During summer shorts, t-shirts, walking shoes and perhaps a light jacket for the evenings or early mornings

    Until 1960 fountains was the gathering spot and used to provide drinking water to all villages .The fountains of the island can be separated into two typesa}the large covered ones that was also used as laundriesb}the simple ones

  • Pinabarsi(ispiliya)

    Following the road to Tepekoy there is a crossroads that one road leads to the village and the other in Pinabarsi. Once used as a small military camp today the place is pretty much abandoned but has great view and if it is a good day you can see the island of Samothraki

    One of the natural beauties of the island is marmaros waterfall. if you want to visit the waterfall just follow the road from Derekoy to Ugurlu or just after the church of Agia Marina there is a street sign on your right that is showing the way to marmaros I have to warn that the distance is about 7 km and the road is in bad condition.     Windsurf isvery popular in Gokceada. you can meet many windsurfers all over the world. I met a group from Australia. They said the water and wind are unique in Gokceada.
