Menu includes only fresh fish and other sea products. They are delicious and cheap. Unfortunately, it is closed on Sundays. There are lots of fish restaurants in Canakkale. But, if you do not want to spend all your evening or day in a restaurant, Albatros is the right place to stop your hunger with good quality food at a very good price. Decoration is ugly but it compansates with the tastes.
Favorite Dish: Fish soup and fried sardinens (without bones), salad, kalamari

The waterfront in the city of Canakkale on the straight, especially south of the main ferryboat terminal, has many places to eat that are right on the water. These include regular Turkish restaurants and ones offering Italian or international food. Prices range from relatively expensive (which is not very expensive) to very cheap. They also range from full restaurants to tea gardens (cay bahcesi).
For cheap, simple, informal, and typical local fair, there is a large tea garden at the soutth end, right next to the Naval Museum. It is right on the water and one can sit and have a view right across the straights while drinking tea, soda pop, or juice, and eating tost (grilled-cheese with or without meat) or a bomba (a large sandwhich on a sourdough roll that is filled with pretty much every sandwhich fixing available), and similar food. There is also, as is common, a playground for the kids.
Favorite Dish: Karisik tost or bomba and, of course, lots of tea (cay).

This is a decent little restaurant, where you can have a hot or cold drink and eat some simple local food while waiting for the ferry to cross the Asian side of Turkey. They have toilets and on the parking lot in front.

When you go to Gelibolu, catch the fishermen boats. When they come to the harbor bargain with them and take some fresh food. And go to one of the restaurants at the harbor and give them the fish to cook.
You can also try raki, as we did with friends in November 1998
