During the last couple of years, the military airport in Merzifon is being used for also civilian flights which makes Corum's best transportation option. There are flights from Istanbul and Ankara to Amasya Merzifon airport. Amasya is one of Corum's neighbour cities. The flight takes around 50 mins from Istanbul. It is quite a small airport and ( with only one gate), and there are minibuses waiting outside going to Corum, taking about 45 minutes to Corum center. It was 15 liras a ride when last did it. The same company also can transport you to Merzifon from Corum city center.
But remember there's only one flight from and to Merzifon per day.The one from Ankara is connected to Istanbul, so it's the same flight.
Hattusas is situated in the Çorum province near modern Bogazkale (formerly Bogazköy) at the northern reaches of the ancient landscape of Cappadocia.
Çorum is a province in the Black Sea region of Turkey, but lying inland of Central Anatolia.
We came to the Çorum Province by bus on our ring-way around Turkey from the Ankara Province while going to Cappadocia.
The distance between Ankara and Bagazkale is about 210 km. It is only three and a half hours driving from Ankara and you get magnificent views of the Anatolian hills. Take the highway E88 (Turkish D200) out of Ankara and look for signs for Samsun, then turn for Corum driving past Delice and Sungurlu and look for Bogazkoy.
