Hanedan: Nice food at Hanedan
Restaurant “Hanedan” was recommended by my friend Emre from Couchsurfing. Actually it is really good place with filling tasteful food and nice view to Edirne old part.
I ordered kebab with lamb and beef, also cup of apple tea. Kebab was quite big one, as you see in picture. They gave also Turkish bread before eating kebab. Service was quite nice, but not all speak English (I guess that’s natural, as here not so touristy border town).
Kebab price was 12 Turkish liras (about 5,30 euros).
Aydin Tava Ciger: The best fried liver in the city
Tava ciger is Edirne's specialty. It is fried liver in tray. Aydin is the most famous restaurant with this specialty. During our day in Edirne, we have come across many restaurants having the same specialty in their menus, but there was a long queue only in front of this restaurant. We waited more than 15 minutes for our turn, but it was worth it. The liver was gently fried and it was soft and delicious. The service was very quick and friendly. Although it's a small shop, it's managed very efficiently. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are very big. Tomato, onion, fried paprika and pepper are served as side dishes besides liver. I strongly suggest fellow VT members to try here.

Cay Bahcesi - Tea Garden
Right in the central squre of Edirne, between the Selimiye Camii, the Eski Cami, and the Edirne Belediyesi (City Hall), is a large tea garden, or cay bahcesi. As is common with tea gardens, it is a great place to relax and have an inexpensive, simple meal. Tea, fruit juice, and Fanta are among the standard drinks and the food consists of the usual tost, gozleme, etc.
The location is wonderful as there is a large fountain in the middle, major monuments and shopping are all around it, there is (as usual) a playground to satisfy the kids, and one can enjoy the experience of hearing the call to prayer from all sides at prayer time.
Favorite Dish: Karisik tost - a "grilled cheese" sandwich with cheese and meat.

Lale Koftecisi: kebabs & meatballs
This small restaurant is located on one of the pedestrian shopping streets in the centre of town where I had 2 chicken shish kebabs (TL6) and 6 kofte (lamb meatballs - TL6) (see second photo). I wasn't quite sure how much I ordered and when it arrived it was a little bit too much but I managed to eat it all and it was very good. Nice place with a nice manager/owner.
