strolling in canal and tunnels (see general tip)....you can find a lot of roman leading citizens graves....and also relics of harbour walls....

Favorite thing: 4km from city centre;32km SW antakya.
the most amazing work : this big and large canal,digged in the rocks by the romans under vespasian emperor,1st century AC,to avoid harbour silting up by rivers coming from mountains...
canal reaches a depth of 30m...
this work..in vain:today,the harbour stays more than 1km far from the sea!

Fondest memory: with good shoes and a torch (tunnels) an exciting and interesting walk...through a tangible past....
