We flew direct with Turkish Airlines. Although the staff could not speak English fluently and trying to get milk out of them was a bit of a struggle, I cannot complain. We had a lovely flight with good food. Nice legroom in the plane and the toilets were clean every time I went there.

We flew roundtrip Mumbai-Istanbul on Turkish Airways. We also flew 3 domestic flights (one on TA's Sunexpress, two on TA). All of the flights were on time and comfortable and our baggage always made it along with us! I was very pleasantly surprised by Turkish Airlines.
If you are flying domestically, I recommend booking as early as possible. Excellent deals by doing so.
Turkish Airlines is a Star Alliance Member.

Just thought that it might pay to mention, that Istanbul's Ataturk Airport is very busy.
Make sure that you leave enough time for connecting flights.
I had no problems, but the flight I was on, loaded ON TIME, but, because we were in a queue of 9 Planes waiting for take off, we left a half hour late, and never made up the lost time.

I'm sure there are many airlines that fly into Istanbul, but we flew on British Airways since American Airlines does not fly there. As a Oneworld Partner, British Airways was the best choice giving us the better flight times and arrivals (as well as accruing my miles) out of London Heathrow as we were spending a few days in London prior to our trip to Istanbul.
The flight was quite comfortable and the flight attendants quite pleasant and pleasing. Our trips on BA are always quite pleasant and this trip was no different.

If there is one airline that has impressed me in the last years that is Turkish Airlines. Both flights from Germany to Turkey and from Turkey to South Africa were first class with superb service and stunning hospitality. The crew was simply great and with modern new planes this airline out shined.
Turkish Airlines is now the seventh largest airline in Europe and operates flights to a number of destinations around the globe. Flight reservations can be done on their web page below.

I flew to Istanbul on Turkish air, was very happy with it. The only confusion was I hadn’t known I was supposed to order vegetarian food, I thought info in my mileage plan is enough. I flew also to Denizli and Izmir on the same airline, they give you good food even if flight is 45 minutes long ,please note not snack, food!

For EC residents a visa is obtainable at the airport. But you have to buy this before passport control and there are no obvious signs telling you this. The visa desk is signed, but since it's past the queues for passport control it's easy to miss this. And have to queue twice like the Long Tone.
The getting the visa itself is simply a matter of handing over currency. Turkish lira, GBP, USD, Euros. No form filling. More like buying an entry ticket that getting a visa.

1) Less than 1 & half hour by Turkish Ailines (www.thy.com), the earlier you book the greater chance of getting the lowest fare (right now they still have YTL69 one-way for adult, child and over 65y/o also discounted. You'll be flying from Dalaman Airport, about a hundred kilometers or 1 & half hour ride from Marmaris.
2) Another option but seriously long trip is by huge aircon bus, about 13 hours to Istanbul. I.e., Metro Turizm Bus have officially 2 schedules daily from Marmaris to Istanbul - 7PM and 9PM, arriving Istanbul at 8:30AM and 10AM the following day respectively.
