In Istanbul people listen to all kinds of music, from rock to pop to jazz to metal to electronica, you name it and there's probably a club for it.

Every year there is an International Jazz Festival, A Music Festival and concerts from local and foreign acts.

Turkish music is as varied as foreign music with many styles.

Turkish CDs are an absolute bargain if you happen to get into it.

If you want to listen to some of Istanbul's street musicians just walk along Istiklal street from Taksim square down.

The 3M's - Music, man, moustache

Forget your ipod, DVD, CD, or minidisc. Cassette is still king.

And every singer's cassette here in a popular music shop sports a man with a moustache

Mosques call muslims to pray 5 times per day. So there are music in the city 5 times a day. But nowadays there are no people calling but just loudspeakers

If you are in Istanbul and are looking to take home some music which incorporates traditional Turkish folk into modern pop, I suggest you check out an artist named "EGE".
