I thought that I would take a little Turkish currency with me, so asked my UK bank to get me £200, just for 'spending money'. I collected the currency today (28 Nov). For every £1.00 I received just over 2 million Turkish Lira! Altogether 405,000,000 Lira!! So now when the cofee costs me TL 10 million, I won't mind!! Leave a Comment

Comfortable shoes, always. There is alot to see in this big city.
Take lots of film but beware if you are using a regular 35mm for inside the Blue Mosque or St. Sophia, your pictures won't come out. There is no where near enough lighting. Leave a Comment

Several things made my trip to Turkey pleasant, most used and helpful were walkie-talkies so that my daughter and I could communicate when we separated in markets, etc. In my journal I noticed a big star beside my walk-into-the-water beach shoes (for stoney beaches). We also used hand disinfectant before eating our picnic foods..water of course was not available under picnicing conditions. A small "sample" bottle lasted four weeks. Leave a Comment

Don't forget to bring your Tylenol or Advil, whatever you use in case of headacke or hangover ;) It was difficult to me to find some.
Electricity runs 220V in Turkey. Try to bring a converter or whatever your camera charger or cellphone needs to recharge with 220V.

A big foulard will be very useful in Turkey, for visiting sacred places like Mosques (for covering your shoulders or legs) or for covering your head when the Sun is becaming heavy. Leave a Comment
