    % Located on an alley in Sultanahmet, this place offers a wonderful experience of local cuisine.

    Small and cossy the place was pretty crowded the day I went. They have a few tables at the entrance of the restaurant, but I really enjoyed the relax and lay back ambience inside.

    Menu is quite extensive and plenty of options are available for vegetarians. All the dishes are carefully season and cooked with local products.

    Well, being in Istanbul, one must taste fish (if only you suffer of allergy to fish, it might be an excuse) and experience plenty of seafood restaurants set along Bosphorus.

    Fish restaurants in Istanbul have far spreading fame of being the best (at least in Europe), a lot of people said to me, that the ones in Greece, for ex., are out of comparison (let my Greek friends forgive me such words!).

    So, try fish, especially the one which is called "blue fish", it's only Bosphorus speciality, one can find it no other place.

    Hamdi is a Kebab Restaurant in Sirkeci. Although kebabs are not the best in town, the view and the ambiance are nice.

    • From soups and salads to delicious desserts, this restaurant serves beautifully prepared, tasty Ottoman Turkish cuisine. It is also worth a visit to enjoy the beautiful ceramics that cover the walls.

    and for dessert
    Asure: an indescribable dessert, which can be made badly, but Kanaat's is the best!

    Hamdi has been in business for over thirty years and serves the finest examples of South Eastern Turkish food. In the summer take a seat on the roof terrace and enjoy the sunset over the Golden Horn and the call to prayer echoing form numerous mosques around you. As the night draws in the Bosphorus lights up to add even more magic to the experience.
    Make sure you call ahead to book,especially if you want one of the tables with the best view.

    Definitely the pistachio kebabs, succulent meatballs stuffed with nuts. Also the hashasli kebab, with poppy seed and testi kebab, cooked in a terracotta pot and then broken open at the table.

    As a gourmet in Adana Kebab , I occasionally go and try every Kebab Restaurant Ýn Istanbul..
    Eating a kebab is a ritual for me and the other Adanian friends..
    We still go to trendy places like Tike,Kosebasi but our last discovery is Oz Adana Idris at Tarabya..
    Our grand jury voted this tiny restaurant as the most succesfull Adana Kebab house in Istanbul..
    The staff is excellent,very polite,the food is really superb..And the price is incredibly cheap..You can have a 2 hour non stop session for 5-6 USD..

    The new cook Yusuf Usta has been transferred from a famous restaurant in the city of Adana and he is very enthusiastic with his job...
    Adana kebab is my fist choice.
    Ezme (tiny sliced tomatoes with spicy onions)Salad is very delicious..
    Small Turkish pizzas (Lahmacun) are good for starters..

    Viktor Levi is the oldest and most Famous vinery in Istanbul.. Located at old pera district, in Beyoglu it hosts hundreds of guests in its 3 floors..

    How to reach: When you are in Istiklal street at Beyoglu in the mid way there is a connection point for trams.. Just there is the Gala high school, turn your back to the green doors of the school, walk to the street to the front... There you will see Viktor levi..

    The restaurant is open from 10:00 in the morning till 04:00 hrs, so its not only a vine tasting place also a good restaurant where you can extend till late night..

    Two American-Turkish friends brought me to this restaurant to sample authentic Ottoman specialities. I gathered it's a popular chain and the sight of a costumed Turkish lady making gozleme on the storefront could send "tourist trap" alarms ringing. But that didn't scare me off as I was with some locals. I didn't know exactly what I ate that evening as I left the ordering to them. But it was all GOOD (and cheap - YTL 50 for 3 persons feasting a tummy-busting meal). And the ayran (a yoghurt-based drink very similar to India's lassi), my first sip, worked wonders in balancing the spicy meal (similar in India where yoghurt or lassi acts as balancing agent to a spicy meal).

    Good service, too, although the decor could use some remodeling. Highly recommended.

    It's all Turkish specialities.

    Ali usta means "master Ali " and I think that its very difficult for a foreigner to find this restaurant but maybe with a little help of local people you can taste the best doner in town.

    Steak with red wine isn't exactly your idea of a meal under the searing midday sun. But that's what I fancied having after my Bosphorus odyssey on foot (i.e., tracing the European side of Bosphorus from Dolmabahce Palace to Besiktas, Ortakoy, Arnavutkoy and Bebek - yes, it was a LOOONG walk). Surprise, surprise, the steak with aubergine (eggplant) sauce was good - it was very good. Steak was tender and juicy and the aubergine sauce gave it a subtle kick. Pleased with the main course, I had tiramisu - which was surprisingly good, too - for dessert.

    You don't have to endure hours of walking to try this restaurant's good steak. I reckon the place is perfect for al fresco dining in spring and autumn. The place becomes a hip bar/lounge at night.

    Can't complain about their steak with aubergine sauce.
