The street, which has plenty of eating places - starting from quick eatz, like stuffed pitas, ending with some really good restaurants and pastry places.
Pay attention to the second floors of the buildings on the street, a lot of places occupy not only the ground floor (which sometimes serves as just entrance) but the second floor as well.

In memory of Hakki Pasha, his grandchildren have restored this historical building and opened CozyPub Restaurant, which has a magnificent atmosphere.
Hakki Pasha was Governor of Yemen in the last days of the Ottoman Empire. He designed the authentic architecture of this building with the famous Turkish architects of that era. He lived in this house until 1911 with his family. Hakkı Pasha's place in Ottoman history is important.
The CozyPub has a great view of Aya Sofia and the Blue Mosque from upstairs. And is iwithin walking distance of Topkapı Palace, Grand Bazaar, several museums and the Hippodrome.
Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner with meals featuring both Turkish and International cuisine.
We had some freshly baked bread and olive oil for a starter which was great. And then delicious homemade thick tomato soup with some type of Turkish yellow cheese melted through it.

Turkey has a special and traditional cuisine, with a lot of Kebabs. It's cuisine is similar to Iranians. No need to look for a special restaurant, every hotel and every big or small restaurant has some Kebabs in its menu. So eat and eat!
Shish Kebab is really delicious. It comes with a little rice and many vegetables for side dish.

Mezzaluna is a typical italian restaurant in the middle of the city ,in the asian site of the city.

I am not sure but I think Taps is unique because of its fresh beers. They ferment four kinds of beer and serve them until they all finished and then ferment another four. So if you like a type of beer maybe it won’t exist in your second visit. I tried many beers there. Actually, I tried all four in my every visit. There are many strange tastes in beers that you cannot even imagine. They serve not only ordinary lagers and ales but also other beers from different ingredients like wheat.
Their snacks are delicious, too. For example, French fries, chicken plates, onion rings.
If you do not like taking risks they also serve Bud, Corona, Efes, etc.
It can be over crowded in weekends.
Bad news: I heard that their Nisantasi (my favorite) and Asmalimescit branches are closed. They told that there will be 5 new places but not sure about their locations.
Good news: I've seen one in Bebek. It has an amazing Bosphorus view.
All beers and snacks. Marzen and Rauch are highly recommended. Also the "Taps Snack Dish" is quite good. Sultanahmet is the center of touristy area in Istanbul and as you are going to spend quiet a lot time in Sultanahmet, you will need places to have some food..
Cosy restaturants is a new elegant restaurant in the center.. it is just near the tramway and on the main pedestrian street..
When you enter the restaurant, you first see a big nice bar.. a good place to drop and have some beer.. If you get hot, you can just have a beer and go.. But if you are hungry also get yourself ready for the delicate dishes.. The food quality and serving is very high.. you can have various dishes from all around the world..
The ambiance of the restaurant is quiet comfortable.. The prices are high compared with other nearby restaurants, but still food is not expensive in Turkey..

we went to this place after a long walk on istaklal street (we got to taksim square and turn back)
its on one of the little street going out of istaklal
this place has 3 floors and each one is relly small and has a big fire place with a guy - ur food get there and this guy gives it the final heat - :-)
i had the roasted chicken which u get on a hot plate with vegtables and rice and it was sooo good
