In the heart of Nisantasi, one member of an Istanbul chainlet of Italian restaurants has been providing meals to the young and sophisticated crowd for over 10 years. It is located below ground level at the center of the shopping district on Abdi Ipekci Street in a large room decorated with Italian tiles and features a full bar and a sizeable wine list. The menu has all the usual favorites including about twenty variants of a rather good thin crust pizza, loads of pastas ( spaghetti bolognese was an excellent version ), classic chicken and veal dishes, and typical desserts. Many of the pastas and entrees emphasize seafood, both finned and shelled. The servers were friendly and efficient. Reviewers suggest on the internet that this chain offers some of the best Italian food in the city. Not the best we have ever eaten, but not bad at all. Note - a no smoking section is not provided here, and smoke wafts througout the room.
Favorite Dish: MEZZALUNA - a kitchen instrument comprised of one or two curved blades in the shape of a half moon ( mezzaluna in italian ) with a wooden handle on each end. The double bladed mezzaluna is used for chopping herbs while the single bladed type is used for slicing pizza.

Situated in the most expensive and trendy neighbourhood of Istanbul,very famous and delicious italian.It is a big restaurant so you will have a chance to find a table even if you go on saturday night,but i recommend you to make a reservation as it is very well known and usually crowded. Service is superb.Waiters have knowledge of wine and the ingredients of the food and that is just perfect for a person like me who wants to know every detail about the dish.The place is very cosy. Menu is wide,you'll find something to eat even though you hate italian food-is it even possible to hate it anyway?-more than 20 choices of Pizza,lots of pasta,sea food and many more.You should try imported wines,and even ask the opinion of the waiter.The wine he recomended was the perfect match with our food. You can also find some nice and pricey grappa.

Been to the Mezzaluna in Nisantasi but this one is on the Anatolian side and just as good and popular.Big car park just below the site so parking is not a problem just a walk back up the hill 3 minutes.Cinema at the club with other things so you can catch a film before or after.
Web site is under construction but gives addresses and telephone numbers as it's a good idea to book before hand especially Fridays and Saturdays.
Favorite Dish: The pizzas are great.

Rushing to and from shops of DKNY, Max Mara and Etro, we suddenly found out, that we were starving and in need of place to relax.... that's how Mezzaluna turned up... a nice and lively trendy place to have a bite, always buzzling with people...
Favorite Dish: It was the 1st time when I tried the local wine - Selection, quite a good choice it was, very decent wine!
