I have been a loyal customer or Timucin Balkan for several years now. Timucin was recommended to me by a good friend who used to live in Istanbul. She is still his client. I believe that the craftmanship of the jewelry made by Timucin is excellent and the price is fair. The gems are of hignest quality and cut and the gold comes in various shades from yellow gold to rose gold. They are also beautiful pieces that will stand the test of time. I never go to Istanbul without visiting his shop, sometimes just to say hello and share a cup of tea with Timucin. I always feel welcome there as if I were visiting an old friend. His people are highly professional and several laguages are spoken there as well as English and Turkish.
What to buy: Either 18 carat gold pieces with gem stones, pearls, vintage watches, something special for a spouse or a loved one, Timucin has it.
What to pay: It depends on the style of the jewelry, the stone and the weight of the gold. His prices are fair, I believe.
If you want to buy Jewellery you wil find a lot of stores in the grand bazaar with some amazing things !
There are streets in the bazaar that is full with only jewellery stores.
What to buy: Jewelley of course !
The shop is a on the second floor of a building off Abdi Ipekci Caddesi in Nisantasi. Once you step into the the place, it's unmistakably a calm space/gallery showcasing wonderul works of art that are the original jewellery creations of Zeynep. It is mainly white with some natural light coming from the gallery of windows on the street side. She greets you in her immaculate Indian-style attire and she is a sight to behold since he is adorned with her creations. She has a very calm demeanor and is soft spoken. She lets you see her work or if there is something specific you are looking for, she will guide you around so you can find that very thing you are looking for. Her designs carry organic elements in them. I see nature in a lot of her pieces and she is clearly influenced by Indian bodily ornaments. I like her smaller pieces and have bought a few including an assymetrical pair of gold earrings this past summer.
What to buy: For me, every item is special but I always go there with a budget in mind and try not to go ovet it. Very easy to blow it, I tell you...
Also you have to think about how often you would wear the piece you buy. some can be delicate and may not be that practical to wear every single day but some are also sturdy and built to withstand everyday wear.
What to pay: Mainly sterling silver chain and accents of gold bracelet with small charms start at 300 Euros.
Lot s of gold shops are in Grand Bazaar.
