Tea Drinking

The local custom here is Tea drinking.
Actually I was curious why they drink tea in hot climates, and I found out when on a trip to Egypt that these countries drink tea to be refreshed.

We Europeans don't realize that if we drink something very cold...thinking that it will refresh us we accomplish just the opposite. We are refreshed in seconds the moment of drinking, and then we are thirsty again.

I advice that when you find yourselves in one of these countries, do try drinking Tea and see how refreshing it is. You won't believe it.

Tea is drunk any time, all the time by Turks, and now me. It is taken from a small glass, the cost is usally 1 TL [ 42 p ], but did pay 0.50 TL and 1.50 TL. The local name for tea is Cay.
