    Boats to/from Greece

    by Yiannis2000 Updated Apr 4, 2011

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

There are several boats to Greece, currently at 18.30 every evening, but sometimes in the mornings as well. They cost around 35 euro one way, 50 return fare (incl. taxes etc.). The boats are small but can take several cars, just come to the Customs house abit earlier.

When in Chios (the Greek island opposite side) ask for information at the seafront tourist agency of Kostas Hatzelenis, very friendly and good service. If you need to stay overnight at Chios town, call Don or Dina at +306972833841, for a reservation at CHIOS rooms, a neat and central place for a reasonable price.

From Chios to Cesme by Ferry

by greekcypriot Updated Jun 1, 2010

    Ferry boat

There are daily ferries from Cesme to Chios and vise versa.
    A one-way ticket costs 25 euro, and a two-way ticket costs 30.
The ferries leave from Chios port at 8.30 a.m and leave Cesme at 6pm. in the afternoon.

The sailing trip lasts almost an hour, but on both our trips from Chios to Cesme and backwards the bar of the ferry was not working, so I suggest that you have a bottle of water with you before setting off, just in case you get thirsty.

With 40 euros you can book a guided tour with a private guide. It is about one more hour drive from Cesme.

The ferries that go from Chios to Cesme are the following:
ERT URK Lines/ Sunrise Lines/ ege Birtik, and the F/B Chios.

Book your e ticket from the site below:

    Leaving Cesme for Izmir

by alectrevor Written Jun 1, 2009

The train does not reach Cesme, so to get to Izmir and the train station you have to use the bus. This goes from the same place has the Dolmus , out through the main street. At about hourly intervals, journey time is about one hour, and the fare 9 TL.. In Izmir trains go to Bandarma for the ferry to Istanbul, and Ankara. Train times on TCDD web site.At Izmir i saw a notice that says trains to Ankara now a fast service.

In summer there is a ferry from Chios Greece to Cesme Turkey at 08-30 am daily. The journey takes 45 minutes. I had arrived in Chios at 4 am on the ferry from Piraeus, so had time for several cups of coffee before buying ticket at office near bars on front. Ticket was 25 euros. The ferry leaves from the other side of harbour that the big ferry had arrived. On arriving in Cesme Turkey , British and others have to purchase an entry visa for £10. valid 90 days, so you can return within that time.
