Ooze Venue, located in Bornova has one of the best nightlife experiences in Izmir. Every Wednesday Friday and Saturday, two great bands perform: Kirli and Cirkef. Cirkef is especially good, their lead has an excaptionally good voice, and you just cannot stand still. Everybody is dancing and it plain good fun
Dress Code: No dress code, just be comfortable, you will be dancing!

. I found many small pubs with live music but I saw a great concert open air! The place was called Soyer Kultur Sanat Fabrikası but it seemed that no one knew about it because it was the first rock concert there!
Anyway, my basic motive visiting Izmir was to see ANATHEMA live. I bought my ticket at Biletix office in Karsiyaka paying 30YTL.
When I got into the place for the concert I had a nice surprise. The full moon was there above the stage and that was great while I was listening to their music.

At Alsancak there are small streets with a lot of nice bars in old Greek houses. Alsancak is the most elegant suburb in Izmir. A great combination of old and modern buildings. Many cafes, pubs and some nice but expensive shops. There are some small pedestranized streets that worth walking on. The music was rock in most of them. You can also find restaurants here although not any cheap one.

Just a reminder when picking a hotel room... traffic in Izmir is loud! The Turks like to use their horns to announce their presence, and it can go late into the night. Some hotels are quieter than others.

There are lots of restaurants and bars in Izmir. We went out for a beer to a place called 'The Lift' (Asansör in Turkish) which is located some 50 metres up on a hill. You get there by elevator, and sitting in the outside pub, you have a stunning view over the city. For more information about Asansör and other places in Izmir, see http://www.cankan.com/gizmir/13-interesting_places_of_izmir.htm

In Izmir, visit the street of Bars and night clubs. In Cesme, anywhere! Right; Asansor, it's a historical lift between two different streets. A couple of years ago, it's converted in to a café & bar complex. worth to see.
good fun, good&live music and great atmosphere
