Colorful and noisy, with their own distinctive, but not unpleasant aroma. A memorable experience.

On a warm, sunny afternoon, this place gets crowded with locals strolling along and enjoying their beautiful city. Like most of the area near the shore, this part of the city is very picturesque and gives me the impression that people here are relaxed and happy. The clock tower is a good landmark to use if you need a place to meet up. The entrance to the bazaar is right there, as well as access to the promenade and the trains and busses. Directions: Konak is on the south end of the promenade. The clock tower should be on most tourist maps of the city.

Our guests graciously invited us (members of the band) to visit this small neighborhood mosque. It was a unique learning and cultural experience, as few of us were familiar with the Islamic faith (this was in 1967, remember, and many of us were young). Address: unknown

Nice area to walk around as it's pedestrianised. The old clock tower built in 1901 and the small mosque with some lovely tile work.Just be careful of the pigeons as there are hundreds and they still insist on feeding them. Leave a Comment Address: Konak Meydani.Directions: Between the old and new Konak piers,if you get out of the metro at Konak you can't miss it.

Affords you a good view of the bay with the added bonus of 2 cafe/bars and restaurant at the top to take in that view.Saying that it was a tad pricey. Lift costs 75 kurush for both ways. Built in 1907 and recently restored in 1993. Asansor restaurant number and address are below. Bars are Asansor Ceneviz Meyhanesi,(0)232 255 54 20 and Asansor Sedir Bar same number. Leave a Comment Address: Seyit Nihat Bey caddesi No:76/A,Mithatpasa,Izmir.Phone: +90 (0)232 261 26 26Directions: From Konak or Kemer Alti area walk south, that's left if looking at the sea.You will see it on your left about half hours walk.

Enjoy a few hours shopping, eating or just wandering around soaking up the atmosphere. Lots of little cafes and shops tucked away in amongst the old narrow streets. Local rumour says there are almost 4000 businesses in the streets, either way it's easy to lose track of time and your orientation. Leave a Comment Address: Kemer Alti market,Izmir.Directions: South of Fevzipasa Bulvari, just in from the sea front.

The site of ancient marketplaces for the 4 century BC Greeks, then Romans. The area was destroyed by earthquakes on several occasions, then rebuilt. More photos and description to come...

This is the one of the most famous and important town of izmir.A lot of restaurants, cafes, bars, theatre, cinemas and a beatiful coast....You just need to get there and walk around , probably Alsancak will take at least your whole day to enjoy it...You can get the restaurants and have beatiful sea food , kebabs or even fast foods like Burger King or Mc Donalds. But I guess this isnt a good idea. You must eat sea food there and walk on the coast and have beer in one of the countless bars by the Alsancak. You want to shop , you are in the rigth place, cause zillion of shops big shopping centers and so on...Also please dont miss the internal boat goes to the Karsiyaka and we you get in there sit outside of the boat and have a tea....It goes great with wonderful wiev....enjoy Address: Alsancak-kordon boyuDirections: You will find.Everyway goes to there....Website: www.izmirturizm.gov.tr
