by MalenaN There are several restaurants/cafes in Sirince that serves gözleme (savoury filled pancakes). The one I had, with cheese filling, was a bit dry. I think the one with potatoes, or the one with aubergine, would be better. Anyway I had it at a nice place, called Pervin Teize Gözleme, above Church of St John the Babtist. The view over the village Sirince is nice from there. I had delisious baklava for desert but could not eat it all. The pieces I couldn't eat I got in a doggy-bag. The gözlemes were made just in the front of the cafe. Gözleme, ayran and baklava: 4 500 000 TL. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Restaurant in an old schoolhouse... by pabertra The Sarap Evi Restaurant is paired with the Artemis Winehouse, so you can have a fabulous meal while you sip that lovely fruit wine. The restaurant has a beautiful setting in an 150 year old Ottoman schoolhouse. The restaurant offers gourmet versions of traditional Turkish food at standard prices and in petite portions. Selcuk - gozleme at the Karamese Restaurant by guell For a very inexpensive lunch, walk to the Karamese Restaurant right across from the Isa Bey Camii, and sit down in your choice of elevated outdoor dining rooms.
Order the Turkish pancakes, or "gozleme", which resemble the French crepes stuffed with vegetables, meat or both. If you're adventurous, try an ayran, the Turkish yogurt drink that tastes like watery salty yogurt. Generally recognized as the superior Sirince dining experience, Artemis Restaurant occupies a 200 year old schoolhouse overlooking the village and the neighboring hills and valleys. Entrance is through a park like setting with fountain marred only by the obligatory wine store and souvenir center, one flanking on each side. In season, dining can be on a terrace or in the park in front of the building. The first floor contains several large dining areas for groups and is decorated in traditional style. The main dining room is in the basement, called the Cellar Hall, and again with traditional decor set with widely spaced tables and booths. Nice restaurant, nice meal - service and ambience are as good as it gets in Sirince. Service was modestly professional. Beer, wine, and raki are of course available, the wines including local reds and whites as well as a wide assortment of local produced fruit wines ranging from raspberry and apricot to sour cherry, strawberry, and mulberry. The bread basket is excellent, flat bread baked with spices and olive oil, served with the appetizers. The menu is wide-ranging with soups including eggplant, salads, filled flatbreads, and entrees including casseroles and kebabs. We had salads with entrees of kebabs and meatballs ( it is easy to become very fond of the spicy Turkish meatballs - kafte ) served with vegetables.
Interestingly, on a chilly evening in October, the only other occupied table included the only American living permanently in Sirince, married to a local woman, with their family. by nicolaitan Before or after checking out the Turkish rugs and their manufacture, consider lunch in the restaurant behind the main building, complete with fruit trees, grass, and a gazebo. A limited menu features grilled meats and offers a full meal comprised of a (very ) spicy yogurt soup, a terrific fresh salad with plenty of the tasty tomatoes we came to love in Turkey, and a large entree with several meat selections on skewers including beef, chicken, lamb. Also on offer - large spicy meatballs, all served with vegetables. Beer, wine, and raki are available, all at a reasonable price.
kofte - spicy meatballs are a Turkish staple, very good here. Leave a Comment Theme: OtherPrice: US$11-20 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: behind the Delta Hali rug operationDirections: 3 miles from Selcuk on the Kusadasi expressway, big sign.

This local Sirince restaurant offers good quality for a modest price in a friendly environment. Nothing fancy here. Relatively deserted on a chilly October evening, there were two tables occupied, one by an English couple and the other by local trade. A display near the kitchen offers a selection of small plates with mostly vegetables of which we sampled a few, tasty and perhaps a bit oily. For entrees, we went with kebabs and found ourselves with huge plates of adequate relatively bland meat and chicken kebabs with an assortment of vegetables. A typical fresh salad with great tomatoes (as usual) was included. Beer (Efes) is available. Portion sizes are large and we ended up with a lot more food than we needed. Ege nin Sofrasi offers a good choice for reasonable priced dining, with a terrace overlooking the main street available for warm weather dining. Maria enjoying gyozleme by Malecka One extra cool place is the ... think the name was: Anatolian village or something like that, you won’t miss it. It is located opposite the Isa Bay Mosque, it is very unique as it is huge, created and decorated as a replica of an anatolian village. It is so original, very comfortable and offers gyozleme. Now, one explanation: When I was reading the guide and the VT-tips I thought there is a difference between “crepes” and “gyzleme”. No. My theory is that “crepe” is merely a more commercial name and an easier one for west-europeans to relate to. I come from a country where many elements of the turkish culture are present and so I know what “gyozleme” is. In any case, the pastry is delicious. I loved the spinach and cheese version, but any would do. Leave a Comment
