Ephesus... is one of the biggest and most beautiful ancient city in the world. You can see my "Ephesus" page for more info. I just want to say you probably spend 3-4 hours to visit there. If you go on summer, which is too hot but best time to go, it's better if you go earliest time in the morning. Otherwise it's getting more and more hot! Address: 3 kms to Selcuk.Directions: On the 2nd km of Selcuk - Kusadasi road.

I will just mention that just above the St. John Basilica, you can see The Fortress. It is actually located on the highest point of the so-called Ayasuluk Hill. Unfortunately it was being renovated, reconstructed and because of these re-vitalizing processes we couldnt visit it. On the photo you can actually see the Isa Bey Mosque in the background. Isa Bey Mosque... First, I would suggest that instead of going the typical way to the Mosque, you might try going right after the visit of the Basilica. It is close, nicer, more quiet and you would see some nice houses on your way there. In fact I definitely love the neighbourhood where the Isa Bey mosque is located. Each time we passed by those houses, and walked through the quiet streets, I repeatedly expressed how beautiful it was to me. So... again, without going into much detail about the Mosque... Obviously it is an amazing building on its own and as for the historical importance... youll educate yourselves once there. Leave a Comment

Isabey Mosque is the last memorial work of art left by those civilizations that came and went through Ephesus. This great mosque was built on the side of the hill where Ayasuluk Castle and St. John's Church are located. In early times Isabey Mosque attracted large crowds and was built between Christian and idolatrous centers of worship. Because of its topographical situation the north and east faces were planted in the hillside. For this reason its stateliness and splendor are more noticeable on its western side. The building measures 51 by 57 m, nearly square. The great western door is decorated with stalactite-type figures and has an inscription of dedication. Address: Selcuk

Ok, let me kill the moment and tell you that it is NOT exactly impressive, simply because basically nothing is left from the Artemis Temple (yes, one of the seven wonders of the world). On the plus side, you dont pay anything so... that is quite fair. It is easy to reach it... Continue straight on after reaching the Tourist information office. I mean, you will see the sign... It is the same road that takes you to Ephesus. Leave a Comment

Ok, so those were the typical, basic things to see, visit. Now for something a bit more... well, personal experience. The small but wonderful park located along Ataturk Caddesi. I really liked this place, nice to rest for a moment, have some water and just enjoy the shade. (I will repeat it many times for you: If you go in summer, it will be HOT) Leave a Comment

Ok... Upper gate, Lower gate... Blah, Blah, Blah... it will be a bit tiring either way. So, you will meet taxi drivers that will try to convince you that you need to go to the upper gate and theyll take you for I-dont-know-how-much... No need, OK? Just go to the lower entrance, it is just fine. You will survive the walk. It is not THAT much. I wouldnt suggest buying anything there since obviously it is more expensive, but if money is none of your concerns, oh well... suit yourselves. Leave a Comment
