Worth a quick 30 minutes run through. You will soon get a little weary of seeing Roman artifacts, but taking a stroll through will give you a chance to see a little something different and escape the heat for a spell. Check it out to supplement any curiousity about ancient roman life in ephesus

A worthwhile place to go but one that does not inspire any great awe itself. The building is still in the process of being restored, but in it's day it was an archetectural wonder. St. John is said to be buried underneath the church. Read the information panel which describes the set up of the building. Some nice views from the top of the hill. Be aware that there are some less than desireable characters that hang out around this area. I would say that you should stand on your gaurd and not be taking around a ton of valuables around here. Don't buy any of these peoples fake coins. I was approached by a poorly kept gentlemen a couple times offering me various drugs.....no thanks pal

Take a short taxi ride to the village of Sirince for some shopping, wine tasting and fine dining. This is a quaint little town that offers many pleasures. After a morning in Ephesus retreat to Sirince for an afternoon/evening of wine tasting, dining and shopping. Such a great place. And remember to take a couple bottles home!

The Seven Sleepers tale is part of Muslim and Christian history. The story does not appear in the Bible though, only in the Quran. The Seven Sleepers were seven men persecuted for practicing Christianity. This cave is where they were sealed in as punishment, and for hundreds of years afterwards it became a gravesite for Christians. Today it is a pilgrimage site for both Muslims and Christians.

Ephesus is an ancient Roman city, supposedly the best preserved ancient Roman city in the world. This is a magnificent place to spend a day just roaming around, checking out all the old structures and petting the stray cats that hang out around the city.

It is a place where St John brought the Virgin Mary towards the end of her life.
Ticket cost 10,75 YTL, taken by the Municipality of Selcuk for the expenses of water, road etc.
In September 2006 there was a fire which burned all trees around the hill, but Meryemana is still ok.
The church is looked after by the Polish nun. There are 4 spring and special board for your request. You can write your request to St. Mary on paper (tissue, kleenex), than you put it on the board. When board is full, the nun burn it.
It is really nice place.

It was build at 14th century and it is one of the important Islamic monuments of the Selguk- before Ottomans time with excellent decoration at the door and the windows. Very quiet and relaxing is the big inside yard with the fountain in the middle.

Address: In the center of the city
Known as one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, today one can only see the ruins of the foundations of this marvelous construction of the Hellenistic Age, entirely made of marble and full of sculptured columns' capitals and shafts. The most beautiful remaining of this temple are today exhibited in the London British Museum.

I would suggest that you visit Ephesus Museum after you have visited the site itself. Its a small but very well done, and incredibly interesting museum about everything to do with Ephesus.
