Selcuk is located in the Izmir Province 18 km northeast of Kusadasi and 3 km northeast of Ephesus. Touristic seaside town Kusadasi is 18km away and can be reached by the minibuses in every 15 minutes. Trains are running to Selcuk-Izmir and Selcuk-Denizli (Pamukkale) on certain hours. You can watch my 2 min 48 sec Video clip Kusadasi Selcuk road with Hulia Avzar –Sedvim Turkish pop music. Theme: Bus

by MalenaN The otogar (busstation) in Selcuk is just by the centre of town so it is easy to walk to most of the pensions. But some pensions will pick you up (they allready have a person at the otogar looking for customers comming with the buses). It is a small otogar and if you are going a long distance you will probably have to change in a bigger city. From Pamukkale (via Denizli) to Selcuk I paid 10 000 000 TL. The bus to Izmir takes about an hour and in August 2003 I paid 4 000 000 TL for the ticket. Leave a Comment Theme: Bus

Ataturk Cad, Selcuk by guell The busses are a great and inexpensive way to get around the country, but for those of us with very limited time, driving is the best way to travel around Turkey. Driving can be a bit expensive, however. Expect to pay around US$35 per day for an economy car plus gas (around $3 per gallon). To save on insurance, use a credit card that provides car insurance, and drive very carefully! Chose a major car company like Avis with many offices throughout the country in case you need their assistance. Leave a Comment

St. John Basilica - Selcuk by Diana75 The access to Selcuk by road is very convenient, as the town is on Aydin-Izmir highway. Buses to Izmir, the third biggest city of Turkey located at 75km from Selcuk, are leaving every 15 minutes, while Kusadasi, located at 18km from Selcuk, can be reached using the minibuses. Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport is located at 60km from Selcuk, while the Ephesus Airport is at 3km far from Selcuk, but is used only by small planes and short distance flights. Theme: Car/Motor Home

The cheapest way to get to Ephesus is by foot. It's only 3 km. On your way you can have a small stop at the temple of Artemis. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

Selcuk is a good base to see Ephesus... and also Pamukkale (Cotton Castle). There are minibuses that operates on a group tour. You can always ask your hotel if they know of anyone going as a group or a tour bus to Pamukkale, so if you're an individual or small group of 2 to 4 people, then you could go along with others to save on transport to and from Pamukkale. There are also people doing it the other way around - staying in Pamukkale and from there they will take a minibus to explore Ephesus and come back to Pamukkale before evening. I guess, I would prefer staying in Selcuk rather than Pamukkale, Selcuk has more to offer and bigger and livelier than Pamukkale - my opinion. The bus leaves at around 9AM to Pamukkale and leaves for Selcuk 3 to 3:30PM. Theme: Bus

by June.b Selcuk has its small bus station - not as huge as in big cities like Izmir or Istanbul, but very functional. The moment you arrive and got of the bus, several guys will approach you offering accommodations, tour packages, transport around Ephesus and of course the bus on to your next destination when you're done with Ephesus. Pamukkale bus is running direct from Selcuk to Istanbul just before midnight, we should have taken that but then we decided to stop-over Izmir to visit a friend we've met on the way to Selcuk, so we took a small bus from Selcuk to Izmir - a two-hour drive. We took Pamukkale Bus from Izmir on the way to Istanbul. Good service, huge bus, efficient. In fact, i guess I like the Pamukkale bus more than the Metro Bus - they're similar but the Metro Bus tends to heat up (the bus heater during winter) and I sweat a lot inside the bus ... on a winter evening. We left our heavy luggages at the Pamukkale Bus office at the huge Izmir Bus Terminal to have a whole day tour of Izmir, they have a luggage room.

There are minibuses that will take you to and from nearby places. You could take the minibus from the small Otogar of Selcuk to Izmir, leaves every 30 minutes. And from the huge bus terminal of Izmir, you could go to most cities and towns in Turkey. There are hundreds and hundreds of huge, large and smaller buses in Izmir terminal. Theme: Bus
