'Pasam'is definatly a restaurant worth visiting...it serves the best 'osmanish' in Maras! It is situated on the top of a hill so the view at night through the large glass windows is breathtaking with all the glittering lights. This is one of the more expensive ones around, but only in comarison to others. Failing that, most of the little 'kebapci's that are scattered around ara cheap and nice tasting. One thing you must try is 'Adana kebap' which is the speciality of the south, either served in a doner or straight on the metal spears...'cok guzel' as they say in Turkish!
As with the 'Pasam' restaurant, go for the view if nothing else! I'ts situated right next to a mosque too, so all you culture lovers would love to be gazing over the hill side at night with the beautiful sounds of the mosque calling...amazing.
Favorite Dish: As i earlier said, Osmanish, which is a type of stew with meat and veg, served over flame in stone dishes (watch your hands!). Very tasty.
And Anyone who goes to Gaziantep or Kahramanmaras must try Adana kebap.

Kahramanmaras Local Customs
WOMEN, COVER UP. THINK TWICE...
WOMEN, COVER UP. THINK TWICE BOUT WEARING ANYTHING THAT SHOWS ALL YOUR ARMA, YOUR CLEAVAGE OR LEGS. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WEAR A HEADSCARF, VBUT I DO BECAUSE I HAVE BLOND HAIR AND PEOPLE THERE ARE NOT USED TO IT SO THEY STARE WHICH IS UNCOMFORTABLE FOR ME AND MY BOYFRIEND. ALSO, DONT KISS OR HUG IN PUBLIC..HOLDING HANDS IS OK. TRY TO PICK UP SOME TURKISH BEFORE YOU GO..ITS MUCH APPTRECIATED. WHEN YOU GO IN SOMEONES HOUSE, THEY WILL SAY 'HOS GELDINIZ' AND YOU SHOULD SAY 'HOS BULDUK'. IT IS THE REPLY TO 'WELCOME'
AND BE FRIENDLY..THEY ARE!
Kahramanmaras Tourist Traps
Because its not a tourist...
Because its not a tourist area, here are no traps! But when shopping, becareful of what they charge you because some turks will take advantage of the fact that you dont know their currency. Its happend to me!

Spend a hot sunny day on the...
Favorite thing: Spend a hot sunny day on the peak of Kahramanmaras Castle sipping chilled yedi gun! (their equivalent of fanta!)
Fondest memory: When away from Kahramanmaras, i really mis the culture mostly...i truly believe the turks are one of the most friendliest races of people ever! But of course, i miss my boyfriend the most! My fondest memory was when we were walking down one of the main busy roads, and we didn't know there was a street festival on, but everyone was just dancing (to 'Tarkan'...the best turkish pop singer ever!)and the locals were just pulling us into stalls to sample free food and drink (Non alcoholic of course...you rarely find alcohol in K.Maras because they are strict muslims). The atmosphere was so great.
