The Burial mound and hierotheseion , burial precinct of the royal family dates back to approx 30 bc It measures 50mts high and is 150mts in diameter its made of loose stones piled high on top the rocky summit, and its widely believed that King Antiochos 1 is buried in a chamber cut into the rocks, but the chamber so far it has never been located

On the way up to Nemrud Dag we passed a little mountain river. The east terrace is the most spectacular with its great alter, flanked with a statue of a lion facing the six thrones each over 8mts tall made from limestone blocks, each weighing up to 5tons
