We rented a car for 5 of our 7 days.
£30 p/day for an elderly Renault Clio. They didn't explain that the tank would be empty on delivery, so first thing I had to do was find a petrol station. Not ideal.
I've driven in many places (some fairly challenging) but I'd heard terrible stories about Turkey. It turned out OK. You do need to give it 100% concentration, and anticipate the worst from everyone else on the road! Usually you won't be proved wrong.
As it turned out, we didn't use the car that much. We could have got around fine with taxis and dolmuş.
I had a blow out doing 80km p/h on the airport highway - drove over a large rock in the middle of the lane because I couldn't swerve to avoid it. Bit scary, as was trying to change the tyre on the hard shoulder of a busy road. A local actually stopped his tractor to help, which says a lot for the Turkish attitudes.

Bodrum Airport is about 40km from Bitez. Its a good fast road, and the only slow bit is where the highway passes through the outskirts of Bodrum.
We got the hotel to organise a shuttle pick up when we arrived., even though we were planning to have a rented car during the trip. Charge was €50 for the 3 of us (August 08).
It worked well. Its always nice to see a sign with your name on it when you arrive in a new place for the first time.

We travelled to/from Bodrum Airport with Onur Air from/to Istanbul.
Flights were on time in both directions - in fact we were early leaving Istanbul!
Onur is a low cost carrier, so don't expect any frills. However we were perfectly happy with everything.
£135 (ytl 315) each (return) booked on the internet about 7-8 weeks in advance. I could probably have managed a cheaper price had we been able to travel midweek (both flights were on Sunday).
Onur flies from Ataturk Airport in Istanbul, which suited us better than the one on the Asian side, but again I might otherwise have got a better deal with Atlasjet or Pegasus.

I didn't know where else to put camel rides, so i've put it in transportation hehehehehehe. Personally i wouldn't reccommend a ride on a camel, they stink hahahahahaha, and not very comfetable either

Getting to Bitez is far easer and quicker than when we went. Just a few years ago you had to fly to Izmir airport which ment a really long coach journey of about 4 hours. Now there is a new airport at bodrum and this has cut the journey time to approx 1 hour and 20 mins, so thats 3 hours more drinking time hahahahahahaha
