Bitez Things to Do

  • Boat Trip on the Siesta Boat

There are and overwhelming amount of day boat trip to choose from all over the Bodrum Peninsula, and I've taken boat trips from the larger harbours of Bodrum and Turgutreis, but one of my favourite locations for a day boat, is Bitez. The Siesta only takes a dozen passengers, so the day is a chilled experience, without pumping, grinding "Maccarena"...

  • Boat Trip on the Kelebek II

The two most popular day boats from Bitez are the Siesta (see my other review) and the Kelebek II. The Kelebek is run by Liz (a Brit) and Ahmet (the Turkish Captain). The Kelebek is a small boat (takes 8 maximum) and leaves out of Bitez day boat harbour. It's a fab little boat, and great if you want a relaxing day out (no party music here!)This boat...

  • Bitez Weekly Flea Market

The Sunday Flea market is held in the same location and the Village Farmers Market, and is a good location to stroll around on any given Sunday.Although this market has second hand furniture and household items - which aren't what you're looking for if you're on holiday or traveling through - it also has a whole selection of treasures worth...

  • Boat trip

BBC boat trips run from Bitez harbour. For about £12.00 you are taken out from 10.00 am to about 5.30. Lunch is included and you are taken to several bays for swimming and snorkelling. The drinks on board are very reasonable and you pay up at the end of the day. We have been twice now on consecutive years and each time has been great. This is not...

  • Beach Babes and Lounge Lizards

I've never really had a 'Sun Holiday' and lying on a beach for more than 5 minutes would seriously stress me out. But the beach in Bitez is very tempting and in its early May state of desertion, all those lonely rows of empty loungers were strangely magnetic. The beach itself is nothing to write home about with poor quality, gritty sand and in...

This village is next one along the coast from Bitez, heading west.We took a drive over one day. Looked nice, and we'd certainly consider staying there in the future. Like Bitez, the old village is inland a little with the tourist development on the beach.Should have gone to see the 17th century Mustafa Paşa tower, but only found out about it...

  • Perfect spot for boat watching

This harbour cafe is located right by the day boat harbour in Bitez. It's a real "locals" place and is a little bit out of the way, but if you're heading out of Bitez on a day boat, it's right there, and perfect for a snack before your trip, or a sit down and a drink while you get your land legs back after a day out on the high seas! It's a lovely...

OK, the place is a 4th century BC theatre - or at least what's left of it (quite a lot, actually). We went to see a concert by Turkish star Sezen Aksu. It was great. I didn't understand a word, but loved the singing and orchestrals.I'd never been to something in a venue like that, and it was a lot of fun.Tickets were ytl 100 for the best seats -...

Bitez Transportation

  • Travel between Bitez & Bodrum

To travel between Bodrum and Bitez, the best and cheapest way is to use the dolmus service. Dolmus Timetable During peak summer months, these small buses run until 4-5am in the morning. So even if you're staying in Bitez, it's easy to go for a night out in Bodrum, and still make it back to Bitez without having to splash out on a taxi. Dolmus...

  • Free Taxis !

Yes, you read correctly, free taxi service is quite a normal feature of life in the Bitez- Gumbet -Bodrum area. • Prepare to be Hassled

There is absolutely no way you won't be hassled by people standing outside restaurants and shops so better prepare for it in advance. 3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

We went to this beach on a boat trip out of Bitez it was on a tiny island called cleopatras island. Legend has it that this was anthony and cleopatras love island. When we got there we had to pay to get on the beach and when my daughter dug down, under the sand was none other than concreat hahaha i did not know they had concreat in there day. The beach was actually man made and the sand imported from other beaches. Having said that it was still a beautifull beach but a con having to pay to use it.
